On May 20, 2025, the National Cancer Mission Hub (NCMH) was inaugurated at the National Institute of Oncology – the first center of its kind in Europe. It is a key element of the European oncology strategy, integrating science, clinical practice, industry, health policy, and the real needs of patients. The goal of this initiative is to improve prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and the quality of cancer care in Poland and across the European Union.
The Polish Hub launches a network of National Cancer Mission Hubs, which will be established in EU member states, collaborating and harmonising cancer treatment standards. The project integrates the assumptions of the European Cancer Mission Programme and the European Beating Cancer Plan (EBCP) with national strategies – the National Cancer Strategy and the National Cancer Strategy.
On September 19, 2025, the first meeting of a group of stakeholders representing patient communities took place as part of the Polish Cancer Mission Hub. Representatives of the Rakiety Oncological Foundation participated in the event. Discussions focused on the most important issues facing patients at various stages of treatment, as well as the exchange of experiences and ideas for effective solutions. The meeting created a space for representatives of various organizations to integrate and establish common goals for the future.
Work will continue in thematic groups. The next Polish Cancer Mission Hub meeting in December will be dedicated to dialogue with representatives of the medical, research, industry, and policy-makers communities, with the goal of joining forces for better oncology in Poland and Europe.
