Cancer prevention as an element of modern health education
„"ProfiRAKtics at school"” is a preventive and educational program of the Rakiety Oncological Foundation, addressed to students in grades 7-8 of primary schools, secondary schools and university students, as well as to teachers and teaching staff.
The program was created in response to the growing need for reliable, practical health education. Its goal is to provide real support to young people and adults in taking care of their health, developing informed pro-health attitudes, and supporting early cancer detection.
It is a combination of knowledge, experience and practice that translates into specific skills and greater responsibility for one's own health.
The foundation of the program - practical prevention
The "ProfiRAKtyka w szkole" (ProfiRAKtyka at School) program is based on workshops on breast and testicular self-examination, conducted using specialized educational manikins. Participants learn:
- how to perform self-examination correctly,
- how to recognize disturbing changes and symptoms,
- when and where to seek further diagnosis.
An integral part of the classes is also education on skin moles – with particular emphasis on melanoma prevention and the principles of regular self-examination.
The program is based on active participation by participants. This ensures that knowledge doesn't remain theoretical, but becomes a practical skill that young people can actually use in their lives.
Expanding the program - a response to real needs
In response to current health challenges, the "ProfiRAKtyka w szkole" (ProfiRAKtyka at School) program has been expanded to include additional areas of cancer prevention, including:
- prostate cancer prevention – adapted to the age of the recipients, with an emphasis on building awareness and future health habits,
- cervical cancer prevention, with particular emphasis on the importance of regular examinations,
- education about HPV vaccinations, their role in cancer prevention and reliable debunking of myths about vaccinations.
Thanks to this, the program offers a comprehensive and responsible approach to cancer prevention, covering both girls and boys.
