My name is Sylwia. I am 43 years old and a mother of two.

Until recently, I lived an ordinary life – I worked, laughed, hiked in the mountains and looked with joy into my future and that of my children.

In 2024, my world turned upside down. Symptoms I thought were just fatigue—headaches and sudden drops in energy—turned out to be the beginning of a difficult journey ahead.

Instead of relaxation, my dream vacation turned into a nightmare. During the trip, I suffered epileptic seizures and was hospitalized. For a week, I underwent numerous tests and consultations. The diagnosis indicated damage to the right frontal lobe and epilepsy. Further tests, including spectroscopy performed under local anesthesia and sampling for testing, left little hope.

I was filled with uncertainty, fear and anticipation for the result, which unfortunately confirmed my worst suspicions – grade II glioma.

A brain surgery lasting several hours was necessary. After the procedure, complications arose and a long hospital stay occurred., left-sided paresis and problems with motor coordination. At the time, I thought I wouldn't be able to cope with all of this, but private rehabilitation allowed me to gradually regain the use of my arm and leg and return to everyday life, although it's not the same as before the diagnosis.

I tried to live as normally as possible for my children so that they wouldn't have to watch their mother suffer every day.

Everything seemed to indicate that my life was starting to get back on track. Unfortunately, the peace didn't last long. After nine months, further tests, and consultations, it turned out that another surgery was necessary. The fear and anxiety surrounding another procedure were immense.

In 2025, I underwent another multi-hour surgery. This time, the diagnosis was even more difficult – grade III glioma, malignant tumor.I started to think there was no hope for me. However, knowing that I had wonderful children and that I wanted to be with them as long as possible gave me the strength to keep going.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of my difficulties. Further consultations and tests revealed intestinal problems, which became an additional obstacle to treatment. I don't have full intestinal protection and must take specialized medications imported from France. These are very expensive, but they help me cope more smoothly with the chemotherapy, which unfortunately puts a heavy strain on my body.

I'm already done radiotherapy, which I managed to get through relatively smoothly thanks to privately financed supportive treatment. I am currently undergoing chemotherapy. There are days that are especially difficult, when I lack the strength to even get out of bed. In these moments, supportive care helps me cope with chemotherapy and gives me the energy I need to function daily.

 I dream of returning to health, to normal functioning, to the joy of life, and to mountain trails, which have always been my passion. Unfortunately, The diagnosis of a brain tumor, epilepsy and long-term treatment make it very difficult for me to realize these dreams.
