My history

Dream:

Ladies and Gentlemen,

My name is Sylwia. Cancer and the consequences of its treatment have accompanied me, with varying degrees of severity, since early childhood. Today I am 54 years old. I was first diagnosed when I was only 4 years old – it was a Wilms tumor of the right kidney.

My parents were then told to say "goodbye" to me. I wasn't supposed to be there, but someone had a different plan for me. I survived the treatment and was cured of cancer. Even though I was a small child at the time, I remember a lot—unfortunately, time hasn't erased all memories.

Saving my life took kidney removal, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. One of the consequences of the treatment was loss of ability to get pregnant. Thanks to adoption, I became a mother. Today I have a 16-year-old son, Wojtek, who is on the autism spectrum. Together, we've come a long way to help him function as well as he does today. He now attends a special education school and enjoys interacting with his peers.

Unfortunately, in 2021 I accidentally found out that I have brain aneurysm (RMCA), which required protection. I waited a long time for the surgery. Finally, in June 2022, the aneurysm was clipped, which involved opening the skull. This surgery had to be performed before the next procedure, because abdominal cavity I was diagnosed with a tumor.

In August 2022, I underwent surgery to remove a tumor at Bielański Hospital in Warsaw. After the procedure, it turned out that it was malignant tumor – leiomyosarcoma.

I was glad it was over and I was recovering. Unfortunately, at the turn of October and November 2022, I developed an intestinal obstruction and had to have surgery. another operation. Then I underwent chemotherapy, which came with numerous side effects.

In September 2024, I underwent another very serious operation, the purpose of which was removal of all cancer foci. The procedure was successful. Since then, I have been under constant oncological monitoring, and current PET scans indicate disease regression.

In Poland, all available chemotherapy options have already been exhausted. If the disease recurs, palliative chemotherapy will be the only option.

Even though some time has passed since the intensive treatment, I still struggle with its side effects every day. I need more help. check-ups, rehabilitation and consultations Urology and cardiology. Each subsequent examination is extremely stressful for me. At the same time, I'm using supportive therapies to help alleviate the effects of my current treatment and improve my quality of life.

I am currently receiving a disability pension total incapacity for work until June 2029. Not only physical ailments are a huge burden for me, but also the difficult treatment depression. Sometimes it's hard for me to find joy and meaning, but I try to move forward every day. I have someone to be there for – my son. It's hard, but there's still hope.

Unfortunately, I have limited funds for treatment and I am afraid that without financial help at some point I will not be able to continue it.

So far, my fundraiser has raised approximately 17,000 PLN, for which I wholeheartedly thank you. In order to cover the costs of further tests, specialist consultations, rehabilitation, and supportive therapies, I need to collect another 80,000 PLN. That's why I'm asking for your support in this difficult and exhausting fight.

Every donation and every share means a lot to me.
