Monika has been wearing the device for 5 months Optun. We were able to cover some of the costs thanks to a fundraiser. She also received a series of infusions of the subsidized drug Avastin.
She feels stable, with no headaches or new symptoms, although she requires a lot of rest and sleep during the day. As before, she continues to experience problems with recent memory.
We are happy that we can go for short walks or to the garden with the children and meet with family.
Monika underwent follow-up tests and visited the professor in Bydgoszcz. An MRI revealed slight progression and a small lesion in the spinal cord. She faces further radiotherapy. Unfortunately, due to insufficient funds, we have to take a break from Optune therapy.. Amidst all this difficult news, however, we have received a glimmer of hope. Monika received a recommendation from the Professor to continue treatment, so we continue to ask for your help with all our strength. Every donation really counts! Thanks to this, the disease progresses much slower, and Monika can still function quite well and be a mother to her children.

Monika, my beloved wife, has been bravely fighting for two and a half years malignant brain tumor.Her first symptoms appeared shortly after the birth of our second son in 2023. Monika was urgently admitted to the hospital in Częstochowa. An MRI confirmed the initial diagnosis: a brain tumor measuring 5 x 5 x 4 cm in the area of the lateral ventricles and frontal lobe. Our entire family endured the longest and most stressful month waiting for the surgery, which took place at the hospital in Sosnowiec. The operation lasted 16 hours. Nothing can express our gratitude to the doctors who undertook such a difficult task. Thanks to them, Monika left the hospital fully recovered. The initial histopathology results gave us some hope, but just five months later, it turned out that Monika urgently needed a second surgery due to a recurrence of the tumor.
Being separated from her children again – then 6-year-old Maciek and 1-year-old Maks – was a huge blow to Monika. Despite complications with cerebrospinal fluid flow disruptions, the 9-hour surgery ended well, and Monika was able to return home. Meanwhile, we received the histopathology results – Glioblastoma multiforme grade IV. This news shocked our entire family, but we did not stop praying and trusting in God.
Monika underwent six weeks of radiotherapy and chemotherapy using Temodal. This treatment was insufficient. After further results, the decision was made to administer another course of chemotherapy with Lomustine and repeat radiotherapy. Unfortunately, a recent follow-up MRI revealed a slowly developing recurrence. Monika received additional doses of radiation this year.
Currently, Monika wants to continue fighting for her health so she can be with us as long as possible, especially for our wonderful sons. Therapy is a chance for greater success in this fight. tumor treating fields (TTFields) using the Optune device. This treatment has been approved by the US FDA for use in patients with recurrent glioblastoma multiforme, as it has been proven effective in significantly extending progression-free survival. Unfortunately, we were not eligible for clinical trials. Recently, this therapy has also become available for a fee in Poland, but the costs are enormous. about 120 thousand zlotys per month (Treatment typically requires 4 to 18 months). Additionally, further private consultations, follow-up tests, and supplements are needed to strengthen Monika's body. We would like to ask for your financial support to support Monika's continued treatment with Optune therapy, as well as the associated consultations, tests, travel, and supplements. Our dream is to live in the house we've been renovating for several years now, with the help of my brothers. Monika designed the interior of this house. It's a great talent and passion of hers. She can create unique furniture and stylish interiors from old things. We want this house to be filled with fond memories, and for the children to spend happy time there with their mother.
