My history
Dream:
Hi, my name is Monika,
Until recently, my life continued as usual. It was full of daily responsibilities, caring for loved ones, and small joys that gave me strength. I'm an only child, and for years I've been the pillar of my family. I took my parents into my home to ensure a peaceful and dignified autumn of their lives. My 84-year-old father is battling cancer himself, and my 79-year-old mother suffered a heart attack. My 19-year-old son, who is on the autism spectrum, also requires care. I've always tried to be supportive and give them a sense of security.
Despite my many responsibilities, I haven't forgotten my passions. I love creating and surrounding myself with art. I learned to play the drums and the ukulele, I paint, crochet, and design handbags. For years, I've also been fascinated by the animal world, especially reptiles, whose breeding has become a great passion of mine. I also helped design and test terrarium equipment in my family's studio. Today, I dream of only one thing: to overcome my illness and return to the life I love so much.
In April of this year, my life changed in a matter of days. On April 10th, I underwent surgery on my left knee. I thought rehabilitation and recovery would be the biggest challenge I faced. I had no idea that the real tragedy was yet to come. A few days later, during a casual conversation, I suddenly began to have trouble speaking. I was at a loss for words and syllables, and there was a strong pressure and a disturbing noise in my head. I felt as if someone had suddenly erased part of my memory. An ambulance took me to the hospital. After a CT scan, everything happened quickly. Doctors informed me of a brain tumor and hemorrhage. I was immediately placed on the operating table. The six-hour craniotomy was successful, but the most difficult news was yet to come. The histopathology results confirmed my worst fears., Glioblastoma, grade IV, one of the most aggressive brain tumors.
I'm currently starting standard treatment, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, in Warsaw. Unfortunately, with such aggressive cancer, standard methods often prove insufficient. My best chance of extending my life and halting the progression of the disease is TTFields therapy using the Optune device. Treatment should begin immediately after completing the first stage of oncological therapy. Unfortunately, the therapy is not reimbursed in Poland, and the cost of two years of treatment is approximately 3 million zlotys.
The funds raised will also help finance essential rehabilitation following knee surgery. Due to my oncological diagnosis, I was denied in-patient rehabilitation, so expensive private treatments are my only option. To effectively combat this disease, I must first regain mobility and get back on my feet. The funds I need are completely beyond my and my family's reach.
That's why I'm asking for your support from the bottom of my heart. Every donation, every share, and every kind word gives me hope to continue fighting. I want to live. I want to return to my loved ones and continue to be a source of support for them, just as they are for me today.
Thank you for all your help!
