UPDATES:

Updated on 24/01/2024

The Pet study showed further remission. Unfortunately, osteoporosis after chemotherapy and radiotherapy has deepened and further side effects appear. Łukasz has frequent bone pain, especially in his weakened leg. As of today, the orthopedist could not order rehabilitation due to the possibility of injury and bone fragility. There is also good news, the orthopedist canceled the femur replacement surgery and implant insertion. Łukasz is under constant supervision of oncology, orthopedics, cardiology and osteoporosis clinics.
Due to weak immunity, it is necessary to constantly support the body. Łukasz constantly uses supplements, strengthening infusions and follows a special anti-cancer diet.
In the second half of the year, she will have further tests: MRI, tomography, ultrasound. So we are waiting for good news again.

Updated on January 30, 2023

Due to the doctor's recommendations, Łukasz had to abandon rehabilitation so that the leg could gradually regenerate on its own. An MRI performed in June brought positive news to Łukasz and his family. At the moment, he continues supportive treatment, takes supplements and maintains an appropriate diet. There will be another follow-up PET scan in April or May. Łukasz and his wife's commitment work together to follow specialists' recommendations and see the positive effect of supportive treatment. The situation has been brought under control and they are hopefully waiting for the next check-up which will bring further news. They still need financial support for supportive treatment, which is expensive.

Updated on March 2, 2022

At the end of October, Łukasz had a follow-up PET scan, which showed full metabolic and morphological regression. The pathological distal bone infiltration decreases, but the bone remains weak. Further tests in March will show whether osteoporosis is still getting worse. An MRI is planned around July, which will help determine whether bone resection will be necessary... Currently, Łukasz is undergoing rehabilitation - he is also taking appropriate diet, supplements and infusions to strengthen his body after chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Łukasz is fighting, using every opportunity to win against the disease, but on the way to full victory, your help is necessary. Your support will help him forget about this nightmare and return to normal life.

Updated on August 5, 2021

The final diagnosis was follicular lymphoma with transformation to DLBCL of the femur (initially it was DLBCL lymphoma). An MRI of the leg shows bone damage after cancer and radiotherapy. Łukasz still has to be careful with his leg because the bone is very weak. Additionally, he begins to experience severe side effects after chemotherapy and radiotherapy - osteoporosis, lack of strength, neuropathy.
There will be a follow-up PET scan in October, and another MRI of the leg around January. The situation will then be clarified as to whether bone resection (removal) will be necessary.
Łukasz constantly supports his body - he takes supplements, vitamins, and is on a special diet.

The latest PET results showed that only a residual lesion remained, but it was inactive. This is very good news! In June, Łukasz will have a follow-up MRI to check the soft tissues in the thigh area and the bone. After chemotherapy, he was diagnosed with osteoporosis. He is under constant medical supervision.
Rehabilitation will probably also be needed due to damaged muscles after radiotherapy. In addition, he continues oncological and immune system treatment.

DREAM:

Łukasz is 38 years old, lives in Piaseczno with his wife Dominika and 6-year-old son - Kubuś.

He works professionally in industrial production, he also likes manual work - especially in the carpentry shop, he loves cycling and kayaking.

"A real handyman, he can do anything” – says Dominik's wife.
"Friendly, helpful, obliging. Everyone can always count on him, he will not refuse help to anyone. Heart on hand".

Always a picture of health, so when in December 2019 he developed huge leg pain, it was a surprise for the family. In March 2020, an ultrasound and MRI were ordered. In April 2020, the first diagnosis was Ewing's sarcoma. Part of the tumor was removed and the material was sent for biopsy. The final diagnosis was – however bone lymphoma. 6 cycles of chemotherapy, the first one was quite mild for Łukasz, the next ones were much worse. From October to November – 20 radiotherapy treatments.

Currently, Łukasz is under the care of an orthopedist, in April the bone was in such bad condition that it looked like "Swiss cheese" as the doctor said.

Ultimately, there is no certainty about the diagnosis, we are waiting for further tests, a follow-up PET in February and information whether surgery is an option.

Łukasz doesn't like talking about the disease. He believes that there are people who need help more than he does. He is a humble, good man. Above all, he is also a great dad to Kuba, who loves him incredibly and is very worried when his dad doesn't have the strength to play with him.

Currently, part of the treatment is financed by the National Health Fund, but Łukasz also needs it non-reimbursed treatments and treatments, which will strengthen his body to effectively fight the disease - unfortunately, the costs exceed the family's capabilities.

Let's support Łukasz on his way to health, he has a wonderful family that makes life worth living!
