Jakub Kuczyński 1822

Jakub is 26 years old and is battling osteosarcoma – a very large tumor in his pelvis that has metastasized to his lungs. He has already undergone six cycles of chemotherapy, but due to the tumor's location, the previously planned surgery cannot be performed at this time. The family is seeking further treatment options, including abroad. Let's help Jakub fight for his life, regain mobility, and return to normal functioning.

My history

Dream:

Jakub is 26 years old. He is an intelligent, sensitive young man who, instead of pursuing his plans and dreams, must now fight against severe cancer.

In March 2026, his left leg suddenly began to swell. Initially, a thrombosis was suspected, but tests revealed that the cause was a large tumor in the left side of his pelvis. Biopsy confirmed G3 osteosarcoma, osteoblastic type. At the time of diagnosis, the tumor was already very large, and the disease was also accompanied by changes in the lungs that were metastases.

According to the last CT scan from July 30, the tumor is approximately 23 × 17 × 28 cm. It is extensive and currently, due to its location and involvement of the spine area, inoperable.

Jakub has already undergone six cycles of chemotherapy – two cycles of doxorubicin with cisplatin and four cycles of etoposide with ifosfamide. The first chemotherapy treatment severely damaged his body – he experienced severe vomiting, seizures, extreme weakness, and hair loss. Unfortunately, the tumor continued to grow.

After changing the treatment, the disease was stopped in most areas, but the tumor grew in the spine area, which caused The previously planned very extensive surgery involving the amputation of the leg and part of the pelvis cannot be performed at this time. Jakub continues to take strong painkillers and has also undergone radiotherapy for pain.

However, we do not want to give up.

Jakub is still receiving chemotherapy—currently for five days every three weeks. His body is very weak. Due to anemia, he required an iron infusion, and before his last cycle, he received a blood transfusion for three days. His next CT scan is scheduled for the second half of October.

We are also looking for other treatment options. If treatment options in Poland are exhausted, we will consider ion therapy abroad, including in clinics in Austria or Germany. Each case is assessed individually, so the cost of such treatment is not known at this time. However, we want to be prepared for such an eventuality.

Today, Jakub is largely a bedridden person. He mainly gets up to go to the bathroom, where he uses crutches. He can't walk normally or sit for long periods of time—bending his leg causes pain, and due to swelling, he has to lie down with his leg elevated most of the time.

He uses a rented medical bed, for which we pay monthly. He also has a wheelchair, for which he needed to purchase a footrest to elevate his injured leg.

Jakub lives with his parents, who care for him daily and help him with his daily life. An additional challenge is Asperger's syndrome and depression, which he struggled with even before his cancer diagnosis. The entire situation is a huge psychological burden for him.

The funds raised will be allocated to further treatment and diagnostics, specialist consultations, medications and supportive treatment, appropriate nutrition, travel, accommodation, medical equipment and possible consultations and treatment abroad.

We don't know yet what the next few months will bring. However, we know that we want to take advantage of every opportunity that presents itself to Jakub.

His biggest dream is to get better.

He wants to stop living with pain and swelling. He wants to walk normally again, leave the house independently, and regain at least some of the life his disease has robbed him of.

And once he is healthy, he would like to fulfill one of his dreams – fly in a balloon.

Today, it seems distant. But this is precisely the future we want to fight for.

Please help us give Jakub another chance. Every donation and every share makes a huge difference.

Thank you.
