My story began at the end of 2023, when a disturbing change in my large intestine was detected during a colonoscopy in Poland.

December 28, 2023 Last year I had a colonoscopy performed in Poland, in Szczecinek.
January 11, 2024 I received the results of the histopathological examination. My further diagnostics were also carried out in the Netherlands.
March 3, 2025 I had a colonoscopy done in The Hague.
April 9, 2025 In 2015, at the LUMC hospital in Leiden, an attempt was made to remove the lesion using the endoscopic method and material was collected for examination.
The initial biopsy result was negative, so further diagnostics and surgical consultation were needed.

April 18, 2025 I had a conversation with a surgeon last year. Ultimately, it was decided that surgery was necessary.
June 5, 2025 Last year, I underwent colon surgery. Approximately 10 cm of the sigmoid colon and 34 lymph nodes were removed.

Unfortunately June 20, 2025 I received the result of the histopathological examination which confirmed the diagnosis malignant colon cancer with metastases to the lymph nodes – Stage III of the disease.

After surgery, I began CAPOX chemotherapy. I received a total of four infusions and completed chemotherapy on September 15, 2025. A month after completing treatment, I had a follow-up CT scan. The next CT scan wasn't performed until about 10 months later. During this time, I began experiencing increasingly serious abdominal problems. A large, palpable lump appeared on the left side of my abdomen, causing severe discomfort and discomfort. Fluid also began to accumulate in my abdominal cavity. I repeatedly reported my concerns to my doctors and requested an ultrasound, but I was told I would soon have a CT scan and should wait.  

When the CT scan was finally performed, the results were a huge blow to me.. Metastases to the lungs were detected – three lesions measuring approximately 11 mm in size. A lesion measuring approximately 4 cm was found in the liver. The disease had also spread to the peritoneum, and within it, at the level of the umbilicus, was a tumor measuring approximately 11 cm in size. The adnexa were also involved. Fluid began to accumulate in the abdominal cavity. My situation became very serious. After an oncology consultation, I was told that the prognosis was very poor and that I was given virtually no chance of further treatment that could lead to a cure.

However, I couldn't give up.  I began seeking help from other specialists and further treatment options. One of the people I'm currently under the care of is Dr. Kilarski, who runs a clinic in Germany. I decided to pursue private treatment and regular consultations because I want to take advantage of every opportunity that might give me a chance to continue fighting my disease. I currently travel to Germany twice a week. The clinic is located about 250 km from my home one way, meaning each trip means a round trip of about 500 km. With two trips a week, we cover about 1000 km a week. The cost of one visit to Dr. Kilarski, depending on the type of treatment and infusions administered, is approximately 500–800 euros. Since I have two such visits a week, this gives approximately 1000–1600 euros per week for the treatment itself at the clinic, excluding fuel and travel costs. These are huge and regular expenses for me.i. In addition, I bear the costs of tests, medications, specialist consultations and other needs related to treatment and functioning during the illness.

Planned treatment

I'm also currently preparing to begin further cancer treatment. Further chemotherapy is planned, which the doctor says will be very taxing on my body. I also want to continue treatment under Dr. Kilarski's supervision and combine the methods she recommends with my cancer treatment. My goal is to utilize all available options that can help me halt the progression of the disease and give me more time.

 Why am I asking for help?

 The costs of treatment are a huge burden for me. Private treatment in Germany, regular travel, tests, medications, and consultations generate expenses that I cannot afford on my own for an extended period of time. Therefore, I decided to ask the Foundation for help. I would like to use the funds raised to cover additional treatment-related costs, primarily private consultations and treatment, travel to the clinic in Germany, tests, medications, and other necessary expenses that arise during my illness.

My motivation and my dream 

Despite everything I heard from the doctors, I'm not going to give up.

My biggest dream is to recover, return to Poland, and continue enjoying life. I want to be with my loved ones. I want to continue pursuing my plans, laughing, traveling, experiencing ordinary days, and enjoying things that previously seemed obvious.

I know I have a very difficult road ahead of me. I also know that treatment will be demanding and expensive. But while the options exist, I want to take advantage of them.
