My daughter fell ill when she was 13. It all started with knee pain – Jagoda was playing basketball, we thought it was a regular sports injury. Unfortunately, the pain did not go away, so we went to the doctor, who referred us to the Institute of Mother and Child, suspecting a more serious disease. As a result of the tests, a biopsy was performed, which confirmed the diagnosis: osteosarcoma of the right femur.

Then we started a cycle of chemotherapy and underwent an operation in which the bone with the tumor was removed and an endoprosthesis was inserted. After completing the treatment, which lasted 9 months, a year later it turned out that we had relapses of the disease - this time in the lungs. A thoracotomy was performed and then another cycle of chemotherapy was started. After completing this treatment, 10 months later, Jagoda began to feel pain in the shin of her right leg, which had previously been operated on. Another biopsy confirmed recurrence of osteosarcoma.

Chemotherapy was applied in two cycles, but it did not bring the expected results, the tumor grew, and the endoprosthesis became inflamed. After conducting detailed tests, it was found that amputation of the leg is necessary to save life.

Currently Jagoda is an amputee, and the purpose of the collection is purchase of a prosthesis and rehabilitation, which will allow her to return to normal. Jagoda wants to go back to school, play sports and enjoy life.
