At the beginning of June I heard that the Oncology Ward at the hospital on Banacha had exhausted the treatment options – the drugs given had stopped working, and subsequent MRIs showed the continuous growth of the tumour. It was a difficult moment.
Since June 24, I have been under the care of doctors at the Luxmed oncology hospital. Every 21 days, I receive medications: non-refundable Bevacizumab and Irinotecan. In August, the first good news finally appeared - the MRI showed that the tumor had stopped growing and even changed its structure. This positive effect of the treatment gave us all great hope that the therapy was working and that things would get better.
Unfortunately, the change in the structure of the tumor is associated with a greater risk of epileptic seizures. The last seizure ended with a slight paralysis of the left side, so now I am focusing on intensive rehabilitation to get back to full fitness.
The drug Vorasidenib, for which I am collecting funds, has already been registered in the USA and approved for use. Unfortunately, its availability in Poland is a matter of next year. According to the latest information, it may not be until April. Therefore, every day that I can continue my current treatment at Luxmed is priceless to me and gives me hope for a return to normal life.
I am very grateful for all support, both financial and mental. Every, even the smallest payment, gives me the opportunity to continue treatment and increases my chances of recovery.
Dream:
June 20 was a day that completely changed my life. I got the results of a check-up that I had been doing regularly for several years. It revealed the return of a malignant tumor and confirmed that I was facing an inevitable battle with glioma, which is characterized by recurrence and constant growth.
Now I am fighting it with chemotherapy, taking the drug Temodal, which is unfortunately ineffective. However, this month there was a chance to start treatment with a new drug that will most likely stop the growth of the tumor. Unfortunately, the monthly cost of treatment is 60-70 thousand zlotys. This is an amount that is much beyond my financial capabilities. Therefore, at the urging of friends and relatives, I decided to start a collection. I started to believe that I can return to health and normal life, and the support of my family and girlfriend gives me strength and hope.
I also live in dreams of traveling, especially in North and South America, especially since so far I have trained in Spanish and I am fluent in English. I know I will be able to make these trips happen. But first, I have to focus on defeating the disease. I currently need financial assistance for a drug that may be the key to my recovery.
