Zbigniew Żuchniewicz
Our dad was diagnosed with stage IV glioma. The tumor couldn't be completely removed, and with standard treatment, the median survival time is approximately 12 months. We want much more for him—we want to turn months into years. TTFields Optune therapy offers that chance, but its cost exceeds our means. Every day with Dad is priceless—help us have as many of them as possible.

My history
Dream:
My name is Ania, and I work at the Rakiety Oncological Foundation, supporting people with cancer for years. Despite this type of work, I never expected to find myself on the other side and be forced to ask for support.
On February 6, our family was unexpectedly hit by a devastating diagnosis – grade IV glioma, diagnosed in my beloved Dad. One moment when the world stopped. A few days that made the ground slip away from under my feet. And then each day brought increasingly worse news.
It all started during our winter break, which we went on with my younger, still underage sister, Julka. Memory problems, concentration problems, apathy, sadness, absent-mindedness, delayed reaction time. It was as if he were a completely different person from the one we'd known before – smart, intelligent, joking, juggling 10 things at once….
Things moved very quickly after that. A private appointment with a neurologist, an emergency hospital referral, a CT scan during which we all prayed the worst-case scenario wouldn't come true... Unfortunately, it revealed a change. Immediate admission to the ward, an MRI a day later, and surgery two days later... The tumor measured 5.5x5x4cm. The surgery lasted 4.5 hours, and the tumor was very extensive and infiltrating, making it impossible to completely remove.
Standard treatment is planned—radiotherapy and chemotherapy. However, I know how merciless the statistics are with this diagnosis. The median survival with systemic treatment alone is approximately 12-15 months. That's why I want to move heaven and earth to be with my dad for as long as possible. To provide him with the kind of treatment that will turn months into years. I know such treatment exists. It's just beyond our capabilities. TTFields Optune therapy – approx. PLN 120,000 per month. The longer it is used, the longer the chance of no disease recurrence.
So that we can go to the mountains together again and create many more beautiful memories together.
Because 60 is not the age to die. Definitely not. There are still many things to do, many memories to cherish. We still have many plans and dreams.
My sister is only 15. You could say it's the hardest age. The truth is, she needs her dad very much. I'm writing this fundraiser on her behalf and mine. Please help us through this difficult time. Without your help, we might not have enough time to say goodbye.
Remember us in this year's 1.5% settlement:

My name is Ania. I work at the Cancer Foundation Rockets, where for many years I have been supporting people living with cancer. Because of my job, I never thought I would one day find myself on the other side – having to ask for help myself.
On February 6th, our family received a sudden and devastating diagnosis. My beloved dad was diagnosed with grade IV glioblastoma. In one moment, our world stopped. In just a few days, everything we knew collapsed. And since then, each day has brought more difficult news.
It all started during our winter holiday, which we spent together as a family – my dad, my younger sister Julia, who is still a minor, and me. We began to notice worrying symptoms: memory problems, difficulty concentrating, apathy, sadness, distraction, and slow reactions. He felt like a completely different person from the one we had always known – sharp, intelligent, full of humor, and able to handle ten things at once.
After that, everything happened very fast. A private visit to a neurologist, an urgent referral to the hospital, a CT scan during which we all prayed for the worst not to be true… Unfortunately, the scan revealed a tumor. He was admitted to the hospital immediately. The next day – an MRI. Two days later – surgery.
The tumor was very large: 5.5 × 5 × 4 cm. The surgery lasted four and a half hours. The tumor was extensive and infiltrating, and it was impossible to remove it completely.
For cases like this, doctors usually recommend standard treatment with radiotherapy and chemotherapy. However, I know how cruel the statistics are with this diagnosis. With standard treatment alone, the median survival time is only 12–15 months. That is why I want to do everything I possibly can have more time with my dad. To give him a chance for treatment that could turn months into years.
There is a treatment that offers hope – TTFields therapy (Optune). It significantly reduces the risk of tumor recurrence, especially when used long-term. Sadly, its cost is far beyond our financial means: about 120,000 PLN per month.
We dream of traveling to the mountains together again and creating many more beautiful memories.
Because 60 years old is not an age to die. Absolutely not. There is still so much life to live, so many moments to experience, so many dreams left to fulfill.
My sister is only 15 years old – an incredibly difficult age. The truth is, she needs her dad more than anything. I am writing this fundraiser for her and for myself. We are asking for your help during this unimaginably hard time. Without your support, we may not have enough time – even to say goodbye.
