Tomasz Janowski

I was recently diagnosed with stage IV glioblastoma multiforme. After successful surgery and extensive chemotherapy and radiological therapy, hope emerged: the modern TTFields therapy. Unfortunately, it costs a staggering 120,000 złoty per month. I am asking for financial support and sharing my story. Every bit of help gives me the opportunity to spend more time with my loved ones.

My history

Dream:

Cześć, mam na imię Tomek. Pochodzę z Zamościa, gdzie dorastałem i spędziłem całą swoją młodość. Moim drugim domem stał się Kraków, gdzie studiowałem, poznałem swoją żonę Iwonę i gdzie obecnie mieszkamy wraz z naszymi bliźniakami – Ewą i Michałem. Niedawno usłyszałem diagnozę, która wywróciła nasze życie do góry nogami – grade IV glioma. To agresywny nowotwór mózgu, który zabiera mi siły, ale nie odbierze mi marzeń i nadziei.

My life and that of my family changed on June 28th. After losing consciousness, I was admitted to the hospital. A CT scan revealed a polycyclic nodular lesion with total dimensions of 62x50x43 mm. A subsequent MRI scan confirmed the CT scan results. The surgery to remove the tumor was performed flawlessly by doctors at the University Hospital in Krakow. Despite its very large size, the entire tumor was removed. An MRI confirmed the claims of the doctor who performed the surgery. I would like to thank both the doctors and nurses for their caring and kind care..

After the surgery, I thought it was a success—I can speak, hear, and move my arms and legs. The only thing left was the histopathology results, which arrived three weeks later. Unfortunately, they revealed I had glioma. The worst possible – grade 4 glioblastoma multiforme.

Professionally and passionately, I'm a civil engineer – I've always been fascinated by creating and building. My other passion is sports: skiing, volleyball, and soccer. Physical activity brought me joy and taught me that in every situation, you have to fight to the end. Today, I struggle off the field – against my most dangerous opponent. I have already had surgery, 4 weeks of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and there are still 2 weeks left until the end of the cycle.Doctors say that Statistically, I have 12-15 months left to live, but I don't want to succumb to this statistic. I want to live so I can spend more time with my wife and children—to see them grow, help them with their problems, and experience everyday life with them.

The hope that gives me hope is the modern TTFields therapy, which is unfortunately not reimbursed in Poland. This method, combined with standard treatment, can extend life. Unfortunately, its cost is enormous – about 120 thousand PLN per month, and the optimal treatment time is two years. This is a sum my family cannot afford on their own. Time flies, and I need to start therapy as soon as possible. Therefore, I am asking for your support.

Every donation, every share of my story gives me a chance for extra time – for shared moments with my loved ones, which mean everything to me today.
