My history
Dream:
By the end of 2023, Sebastian was a vibrant, healthy young man, enjoying life and planning for the future. He had recently graduated from high school, passed his final exams, and was preparing to begin college and enter the workforce.
At the beginning of 2024, a lump appeared on the lateral part of the thigh. nodular thickening. After consulting with the district physician and several attempts to drain the accumulating fluid, it was determined that the remaining lesion should resolve. Due to my son's athletic lifestyle, the lesion was attributed to a previous injury to the area.
In March, a consultation with a specialist took place and a CT scan was performed. suspected tumor. Unfortunately, due to significant swelling, a definitive diagnosis was not possible at the time. It wasn't until November, during a consultation with a professor at the National Institute of Oncology in Warsaw, that a biopsy was performed. Two weeks later, we received the diagnosis: malignant tumor, synovial sarcoma.
Initially, the tumor was considered to be surgically treatable, but imaging studies revealed lung metastases. Chemotherapy was introduced, and in the final phase, radiotherapy was also initiated. The treatment ended at the end of May and yielded seemingly good results. The lung lesions showed no progression and even partially regressed, as did the tumor in his thigh. Sebastian was monitored with checkups every three months. At the end of July, after physical activity, severe pain in his thigh returned, and knee mobility was limited due to pressure from the tumor. A subsequent medical consultation yielded no concrete solutions; we were only told that such symptoms are typical of this condition.
Concerned about the lack of response, we decided to seek private consultation in Berlin, where we were informed that surgical treatment of both the tumor in the thigh and the lesions in the lungs was a possible solution. However, before surgery could be performed, the disease had to be stabilized. Unfortunately, further tests, including MRI and CT scans, showed progression of changes in the lungs.
We have now found a specialist closer to Professor Wysocki's home in Krakow. From the opinions of other patients, we know that the professor does not give up on difficult cases and seeks alternative solutions. We plan to continue our son's treatment at his department. Starting January 12th, an attempt will be made to stabilize the disease again. So far, we have managed to cover the costs of treatment ourselves, but we are unable to predict the expenses associated with the next stages of therapy.
We don't know what the future holds, but we remain full of hope and faith that the chosen path makes sense and gives Sebastian a real chance to return to health and a normal life.
We wholeheartedly thank you for all your support!
