Dream:
In 2023, during a routine checkup, I found out that I had malignant rectal tumor. My first thought was that this was the end. The tumor was very low-lying, so the hospital informed me that I would likely have a stoma for the rest of my life. I've been committed to my health and physical activity my whole life, so this news was a huge blow. The cancer diagnosis itself was difficult, but the prospect of a stoma seemed equally daunting.
My wife and I began searching for alternative opinions and treatment options. We found a doctor who gave us hope that we could avoid a stoma. I went through with it. radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and then bowel surgery. It worked – I avoided a stoma.
However, after several months of regular tests, it turned out that the disease had returned and liver metastasis. I started another treatment: six months of chemotherapy and liver surgery. Once again, everything turned out well, and my body tolerated the therapy well. I believe my many years of physical activity had a significant impact on this.
My immediate family—my wife and daughter—have been a tremendous support to me during this time. They give me the strength and motivation to keep going.
Unfortunately, the disease has flared up again, this time in several places simultaneously. This is the most difficult moment since the beginning of treatment. I'm currently undergoing chemotherapy again. I'm 51 years old and have been battling the disease for three years. My wife and I decided to seek treatment that offers a real chance of recovery or at least a longer life.
We found specialists abroad who see this as a possibility, but the cost of treatment is approximately 1 000 000 PLN. This is an amount that I cannot cover myself, which is why I am asking for help.
I wholeheartedly thank everyone who decides to support me. Every donation, even the smallest, gives me hope for the days ahead with my loved ones. While this may seem like a small gesture to many, it means a great deal to me.
