Dream:
On a daily basis, I am a wife and a happy mother of seven-year-old Magdalena. I am also a daughter, granddaughter, sister, daughter-in-law... I just am and want to do everything to stay alive.
I am a special education teacher by profession. Right after graduation, I started working with adults with disabilities, and then I started working with children. The work gave me a lot of satisfaction. Unfortunately, one day I had to leave it all and go on sick leave...
On May 2, 2022, at the age of 30, I received a diagnosis that changed my life 180 degrees - breast cancer. It was even harder for me to accept this state when I understood what it meant triple-negative cancer with a damaged Brca1 gene. I believe that I have met good people throughout my life... and that's what happened here. Thanks to my greatest oncologist in Jelenia Góra, I went for genetic testing and was offered treatment there. It could only take place in Szczecin, which is over 400 km from my place of residence. I didn't ask for any help because I had the support of my loved ones. I endured the chemotherapy cycles very badly and, according to the oncologist, it was extremely difficult. I felt that I had to find every last bit of strength to complete the treatment and I was right, because halfway through the treatment the tumor was almost gone.
Due to the specific nature of my disease, I had to undergo a serious bilateral mastectomy with simultaneous reconstruction. It was a moment I was very afraid of. I was extremely weak after chemotherapy, and each time I received injections to stimulate the bone marrow.
I had to be operated on again, I was put under two anesthesia due to a ruptured artery. The operation was successful. I believe that I quickly got back on my feet despite many difficulties. The histopathology result gave me strength as no cancer cells were found. My oncologist decided that I would not have radiation therapy but another adnexectomy surgery.
Unfortunately, it turned out that my wound after the removal of the sentinel node was infected with MRSA, which is resistant to antibiotics. My condition was getting worse day by day. Doctors tried to prevent the infection from spreading. Despite this, my hand is not functional in the 100% so far.
That was the moment when I realized that I was spending a lot of money on all the supportive treatments that were supposed to give me a chance to regain full health. I have to pay special attention to my diet and take various supplements because my priority is to rebuild my immunity. During the second surgery, I lost a lot of blood, I later had it transfused with plasma, and since then I have also been struggling with anemia. Chemotherapy also led to the development of neuralgia.
I have to put in a lot of effort to get back to full strength. I would also like to return to my profession because I care about supporting the everyday functioning of others.
I never asked for help, it always worked the other way. Unfortunately, treatment, travel, medications and consultations are very expensive.
I wholeheartedly thank you for all your support. I believe that good comes back...
