Updated on August 29, 2025

In September, I underwent four cycles of chemotherapy to prepare me for surgery to remove liver metastases. The surgery took place in December, but the tumors were not removed due to the extensive cancerous growth.

After surgery, I resumed chemotherapy. In February, a CT scan showed disease progression – The lesions on my liver began to grow. So my treatment regimen was changed, and since then I've been taking a new chemotherapy drug every two weeks.

In May, tests showed stabilization, which gave some hope, so treatment continued. Unfortunately, the latest CT scan in August showed further progression. the disease is spreading again.

I underwent a liver transplant consultation, but it turned out I was not a candidate due to disseminated cancer involving both the liver and lungs. Additionally, I was diagnosed with KRAS and MET genetic mutations, which are associated with a poor prognosis.

I'm fresh off this news and feeling a bit devastated. My oncologist isn't changing my treatment yet—he wants to wait until my next CT scan in October to make sure my current line of chemotherapy has truly stopped working.

Despite everything, I try not to give up. I have so much to live for. I'm surrounded by loving family, friends, and acquaintances who give me strength and energy. I try to stay active, live life to the fullest, and don't give up on small, everyday pleasures.

I'm in a hurry to love life.

Dream:

My story began in July of this year.

I went to see my family doctor because I had pain under my right rib. Of course I thought it was from a blow at work. I have a grocery store and I do a lot of lifting. Since I rarely go to the doctor, the doctor took me for a spin, examined me and gave me a referral for tests.

Then everything happened very quickly. On July 13, I received the diagnosis – bowel cancer with liver metastases – inoperable. Luckily, I found a wonderful doctor in Brzeziny, who performed an intestinal surgery on July 19. The plan for the near future is to start chemotherapy. I have also had a consultation regarding liver resection; if it fails, I will have a transplant. For now, I do not feel any pain, I am a fighter, I do not whine and I have the will to fight. I am following the diet recommended by the doctors. Everything has healed properly. Nevertheless, I am afraid... I am not left by thoughts of the disease, of what awaits me, what awaits my family. I do not worry them and we try to live as if the disease did not exist...

Costs? In these 2 months I spent over 2 thousand on 2 consultations, a dietician, a psychologist, supplements, medicines and I used 2 oxygen chambers. I have absolutely no idea what the further expenses will be.

My dreams and motivations are family… next year my daughter’s 18th birthday – the only party I didn’t cancel due to illness. I’m going to go crazy. Then my high school final exams, in 2 years my second daughter’s communion, and my oldest son started college and I hope to be there for the graduation ceremony.

Besides, I love my job and want to get back to the place my husband and I created. It's a small, family-owned shop with wonderful customers, a great atmosphere, and good energy.

In the current situation, any help is worth its weight in gold to me. Thank you for your support.
