On March 27, 2024, I was admitted to the emergency room with severe abdominal pain. Acute appendicitis was suspected, so I underwent emergency surgery to remove it. The procedure was uneventful. Over a month later, I received the results of the histopathological examination, which revealed that there was a tumor in the appendix. Instead of a simple inflammation, it was diagnosed malignant tumor.

I'm committed to treatment and recovery, even though doctors consider my condition chronic. I know there are many treatment options available, and if necessary, I'm willing to use them. Recently, I've been experiencing pain on the right side of my abdomen and pelvis, where the current metastases are located. A significant impediment to daily functioning is the right-sided nephrostomy, caused by the tumor pressing on the ureter or postoperative adhesions.

I'm undergoing chemotherapy. I underwent 12 cycles of FOLFOX as adjuvant therapy, and after a relapse, 11 cycles of FOLFIRI, which was no longer effective. A change in treatment regimen is currently planned. I tolerate the chemotherapy quite well thanks to individualized supportive care, but the supplements and intravenous infusions I take are prescribed by foreign doctors and are not reimbursed. I pay for them entirely out of my own pocket. Currently, I spend about 10,000 PLN per month on treatment.. 

My greatest strength comes from my family: my wife, Agnieszka, and my four beloved children, all of school and preschool age. I receive invaluable support from my mother and two brothers and their families. I also receive tremendous support from the company where I work and from my friends. 

We're trying to live as normally as possible, working, studying, and spending time together. We talk about the disease normally; it's become a part of us. We're making the most of the time we've been given, hoping that with your help, it will be long enough to see our children's future.
