Dream:
Every day we hear that someone has just been diagnosed with cancer, but when we are given such a diagnosis, it comes as a shock.
My name is Iza Bigosińska, I live in Jelenia Góra, I have a wonderful family: husband and two sons. My life so far has been happy and quite ordinary around family, work, small pleasures and my passion for traveling, no matter where, whether in the immediate vicinity or to more exotic regions. I found out about the disease in November 2020, since then everything has taken a completely different path and constantly revolves around the hospital. Diagnosed with I have breast cancer with metastases to the axillary lymph nodes. The whole long year of 2021 is spent learning how to cope with the disease and overcoming subsequent stages of diagnosis and treatment. Initially, I underwent five months of chemotherapy. The next stage was a bilateral mastectomy and removal of the lymph nodes in the left armpit. After a month, additional surgery was necessary. At the same time, I was given hormone therapy, which I will have to continue for many years. I am currently undergoing a five-week course of radiotherapy. Systemic treatment has many side effects and is very burdensome not only for the entire body, but also for the psyche. It causes physical pain, takes away strength, deprives normal energy, and creates a feeling of helplessness.
But the disease also teaches us that we need to enjoy every moment, it increases our appetite for life and motivates us to fight for our dreams. I want to fulfill my biggest dream - to recover, take care of my family, see my sons grow up. For this to happen, additional medication is needed. It is abemaciclib, a non-reimbursable drug for my indication, which I should use for two years. His the monthly cost is approximately PLN 10,000.
Until now, the support of my family and closest friends was enough for me. Few of my friends knew about the disease, some were perhaps a little surprised by my "new hairstyle". Now, however, I am forced to ask for help from everyone around me, because we are unable to bear the heavy financial burden associated with purchasing the drug.
I will be extremely grateful for even the smallest support, every zloty donated can have a real impact on my health and life.
