My name is Hania and I am 61 years old.

I never thought that life would put me in such a difficult situation. I have always tried to help others, and today I have to ask you for help.

I am a wife, mother of four children and grandmother of seven wonderful grandchildren. I take care of my daughter who suffers from autism and my husband who is battling cancer. For two years I have also been caring for my mother, who is no longer capable of living independently. Despite these challenges, I tried to always be open and warm, ready to help others. My home was a place where everyone could count on support.

Unfortunately, my daily life changed dramatically after receiving a terrible diagnosis. In May, I began to have problems with concentration and communication, and the documents I was reading began to merge into one. I was admitted to hospital with a suspected stroke. A CT scan ruled out a stroke, but revealed severe swelling of the brain caused by a tumor. After a series of tests, it was confirmed that it was glioblastoma multiforme – one of the most dangerous types of brain cancer.

According to the doctors' recommendations, immediate surgery was necessary. I underwent it on June 13 in Warsaw. Unfortunately, as predicted, I partially lost my field of vision on the right side. Despite this, I did not lose hope and believed that this nightmare would soon end.

Unfortunately, the histopathological results confirmed the worst fears. The glioma turned out to be extremely aggressive. Despite a well-performed surgery, the tumor grew back to almost its original size within a month. Neurosurgeons decided that another surgery was pointless, because it could lead to the loss of speech. So I went on radiotherapy.

The prognosis for this disease is unfortunately disastrous. Despite complete resection of the tumor and commenced radiotherapy the average life expectancy in my situation is only 14 months. I can't come to terms with this. I have something to live for and for whom! I want to see my grandchildren grow up, enjoy life and continue to take care of my mother.

The only one the hope for a longer life is modern electromagnetic field therapy using the Optune device. Unfortunately, although it is reimbursed in many Western countries, in Poland it costs about 25,000 euros per month, which means over 120,000 zlotys each month. The recommended length of therapy is two years, which gives a total cost exceeding 2 million zlotys.

This is the price of my life.

I am not able to bear this burden alone. That is why I turn to you with a heartfelt request for help. Every, even the smallest payment, brings me closer to the possibility of starting treatment that can prolong my life.

Please help me live longer, see my grandchildren grow up and enjoy another moment in this world. Every bit of help means a lot to me.
