My history

Collection for:

treatment at a clinic in Israel, travel, private visits

Dream:

I'm Ula, wife of Damian, who has been battling gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) since January 2024. It started innocently enough, with abdominal pain. At first, we thought it was appendicitis and that after a simple procedure, he would return home healthy. Unfortunately, the truth turned out to be a blow to us – GIST cancer, spread throughout the liver, pelvis and entire lower abdomen.

Full of enthusiasm, we quickly began treatment. The beginnings were promising for Damian – this type of cancer responds well to chemotherapy. We waited with great hope for the first positive treatment results. Unfortunately, after the first and second chemotherapy cycles, numerous tests showed no improvement, and Damian's vision weakened. During the second chemotherapy cycle, his condition worsened daily – the pain prevented him from functioning normally, and visits to the emergency room became a sad daily reality. He is currently undergoing his third chemotherapy cycle, which is seriously weakening him. He is unable to work, leave the house to bike with his daughter, or do simple shopping. It breaks our hearts because we know the tumors are still growing, and the current treatment is exhausting. Damian has lost a lot of weight and is losing strength - the current chemotherapy is the last option we have in Poland.

We don't want to waste any more time on ineffective treatment, so we're looking for an alternative. Damian is only 42 years old, has a strong will to fight, and wants to be a part of our lives, be close to our daughter Helenka, raise her, and watch her grow up. Our daughter is deeply affected by her father's illness; she's incredibly empathetic and patient, helping us, and believing in her father's recovery. We are a happy family and we're fighting for our lives—we won't give up.

We're no longer waiting for bad news. We only need good news; we won't waste our energy on senseless waiting. We've had our first consultations abroad, which qualify Damian for treatment that isn't available in Poland. Israel has specialized facilities that have designed a specific treatment plan. We have no time to waste and we must act urgently. The treatment we've been undergoing so far has entailed significant costs, which we've been trying to manage. However, now that we're facing unreimbursed treatment far from home, we know it's not enough. The amount we need to raise will allow us to quickly seek further consultations, receive promising treatment, undergo surgery, and cover medical expenses.

Thank you for every donation! Your contribution gives us hope and motivates us to keep knocking on every door. We feel your presence and support, for which we will be forever grateful – we wouldn't have been able to do it without you.
