Rehabilitation and non-reimbursed treatment

UPDATES:

Update of 18/04/2024:

Adam has 4 chemo treatments left until the end of the planned treatment. Due to the results of the histopathological examination, after the surgery it is necessary to implement treatment with a non-reimbursable drug, the cost of which is several thousand zlotys per month. Treatment will last 12 months - it is scheduled to start in June 2024 after the current chemotherapy process is completed. Between chemo treatments, Adam regularly exercises under the watchful eye of a rehabilitator to return to full fitness as quickly as possible.

We would like to thank all donors and ask for your continued support.

Update of 27/12/2023:

Adam has already completed the most important stage of treatment - after a serious surgery to remove the tumor and insert a femoral endoprosthesis. He received the first post-operative chemotherapy and is starting rehabilitation to regain full fitness. We thank you for your donations so far and ask for your continued support.

DREAM:

Adam is 16 years old. In April this year, his knee began to hurt. 2 months later, he was ordered an ultrasound examination, after which a patellofemoral conflict was diagnosed and he was sent to rehabilitation. During rehabilitation, a "bulge" appeared on the thigh, which looked like muscle strain after intense exercise. Unfortunately, my leg still hurt, especially at night. The lesion on the thigh did not disappear.

In mid-August, the doctor performed another ultrasound and then for the first time he suspected that the lesion might be something very serious - a tumor. He urgently referred us to the Institute of Mother and Child in Warsaw. After the tests and biopsy, we received the result: malignant tumor of the femur (osteosarcoma).

Adam is currently finishing his second cycle of chemotherapy. The most important stage of treatment is ahead of him - surgery to remove the tumor and diseased bone and insertion of a femoral endoprosthesis. The next stage after the surgery will be further, long-lasting and exhausting chemotherapy. Adam will also have to focus on intensive rehabilitation. To regain full fitness, systematic rehabilitation several times a week is necessary, which is associated with high costs.

Currently, Adam uses crutches because he cannot put any weight on his bad leg. He must be very careful about injuries and infections to avoid delays in receiving subsequent doses of chemotherapy. This could result in a possible delay in the long-awaited surgery.

Adaś dreams of becoming a pilot of passenger planes. He has been fascinated by passenger aviation since childhood, he loves spending time watching planes at airports or spotting hills, and would like to visit all airports in Europe. He knows almost every airline in the world, no model or type of aircraft is foreign to him. In his free time, he flies a simulator at home, but he has also flown several times on professional simulators on which professional pilots train.

For Adam, aviation is his whole life. Quick and effective recovery will influence whether he will be able to fulfill his dream and start the long-awaited course for a pilot's license.

Let's help Adam become a pilot - maybe one day he will be able to make our travel dreams come true!
