My name is Iza. I suffer from triple-negative breast cancer with lymph node metastases (TNBC) (NOS, G3, Ki67-70%) — an aggressive form of cancer characterized by high risk of relapse and the need for intensive oncological treatment. I learned about the disease in March 2025 during a routine annual checkup. At first, I felt fear and confusion, unsure of what awaited me.

The treatment I've undergone so far—chemotherapy with immunotherapy, surgery (removal of a tumor from my right breast along with a right axillary lymphadenectomy), and long-term drug therapy—have resulted in permanent and significant functional limitations. Treatment has resulted in, among other things, hypertension, hypothyroidism, digestive problems, vision deterioration, concentration and memory problems, and chronic fatigue. After surgery, I experienced functional problems in my right arm, manifesting as a lymphatic cord, swelling, pain, difficulty lifting and straightening my arm, as well as numbness during prolonged, monotonous activities.

I am currently undergoing planned further treatment, including postoperative immunotherapy and radiotherapy. Radiotherapy increases the risk of secondary lymphedema, which is associated with secondary inflammation and tissue fibrosis.

I have a number of medical visits and consultations with various specialists, and after completing treatment, I will require regular follow-up visits, at least every 3 months, to monitor my health.

I'm currently weakened by the treatment I've received so far. I feel mentally exhausted by the number of treatment steps I've already completed and those still ahead. I'm eagerly awaiting the completion of the entire treatment cycle and would like to regain my mobility as soon as possible so I can return to normal functioning.

The treatment left numerous side effects, resulting in the need to take numerous medications to alleviate the symptoms. To improve my quality of life, I also consult and utilize the services of private specialists such as an ophthalmologist, proctologist, endocrinologist, dietitian, and dentist, which generates additional costs. Currently, my largest monthly expense is hand rehabilitation, as a single visit to an oncology physiotherapist costs over 220 PLN. To cover the next few months of treatment, I need approximately 50,000 PLN.

Personally, I'm a mother of two wonderful and intelligent children, Julia and Karol, and a happy wife. I can count on their support and I'm proud of them for coping so well despite my illness. My illness has brought me closer to my husband, but my children have had to grow up faster because I don't always have the energy to care for them. They've also taken on many household chores. My friends and family give me encouragement as I battle this illness.

My children and husband give me the most hope and energy. I dream of regaining my mobility, returning to work full-time, traveling, and watching my children grow up. I dream of living a life of full speed ahead! After completing treatment, I'd like to get involved in activities for others, such as foundations or educating people about health or animal welfare. I also plan to visit a friend from Wisła I haven't seen for a long time.

With continued rehabilitation and treatment, I'll be able to return to my former fitness and give back the kindness I've already received.
