“Pain demands to be felt” – this quote from one of the films perfectly captures what palliative patients feel. Cancer is not only a disease of the body, but also a huge burden on the soul and psyche.

Dream:

My name is Joanna, I am 45 years old. In 2018, I was diagnosed with HER2 positive breast cancer. I began intensive treatment – I underwent chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy and immunotherapy. It was also decided to remove my ovaries. After all this, I managed to achieve remission, which lasted five years. During this time, I regularly took medications and acid infusions to prevent metastasis.

Unfortunately, in 2023, hip problems began. With each month the condition worsened, and for a long time the doctors were unable to determine the cause. It was not until June 2024 that a PET scan revealed that the cancer had metastasized to the bones. The disease has returned, and I started chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy again. Unfortunately, the effects of the treatment are much worse than the first time. I am currently a palliative patient with stage IV cancer.

Despite all this, I do not stop. I try to be active professionally, I spend as much time as possible with my children, family and friends. I am still learning to live life to the fullest, appreciating every moment.

My biggest dream is to simply LIVE… To live to raise my children. When I was first diagnosed, they were just 3, 6, and 17. We believed that remission would last longer. Cancer, although brutal and unforgiving, did not take away my will to live or the strength to act.

“Pain demands to be felt” – this quote from one of the films perfectly captures what palliative patients feel. Cancer is not only a disease of the body, but also a huge burden on the soul and psyche. Despite the challenges that life puts before me, I keep going. I look ahead and do not look back, because each day is a gift that I want to use to the end.

I will be grateful for any help on my way.
