But let me tell you from the beginning…

In 2018, I had to undergo surgery to remove my thyroid. I went into the procedure knowing that I needed to get rid of an organ that was not functioning properly. Unfortunately, intraoperative examination revealed a malignant thyroid tumor. I received my first DILO card and was referred to the Military Institute of Medicine in Warsaw for radioactive iodine treatment.

Eight days after my surgery, I ended up in the hospital again, this time my husband was diagnosed. Stomach cancer. I remember this contrast exactly, on the one hand a beautiful, sunny September day, and on the other the doctor's words: "it may be possible that you will be able to eat normally." I was so shocked that I couldn't say anything.

I didn't tell anyone about my health problems. About how difficult it is to get out of bed and move forward when you don't have your dose of medication yet. About how much support you need, but you don't ask for it because your partner has it even worse. My husband's treatment was aggressive, but fortunately progressed medically without complications. He even managed to return to work after a break.

When everything was returning to normal, I detected a lesion on my right breast, I made an appointment for an ultrasound examination, the next day after hearing the results of the examination, the family doctor issued me a DILO card and referred me to the West Pomeranian Oncological Center - it was September 2022. I underwent chemotherapy, radical mastectomy, radiotherapy, adjuvant chemotherapy, rehabilitation - it was a year of intensive treatment - from October 2022 to October 2023.

In December 2023, I noticed a change in the postoperative scar, tests confirmed my suspicions - I had a recurrence. I appeared before the oncology committee again with the verdict: palliative chemotherapy. Due to the rapid recurrence of the disease, I am not systematically eligible for modern targeted therapies, and their cost is impossible for me to cover.

I am in good physical shape and I would like to stay in good shape as long as possible. I enjoy simple pleasures, such as going for a long walk and cooking for myself and my family.
