My name is Małgorzata, I am 57 years old. I am the mother of an adult daughter and grandmother of two wonderful grandchildren. At the beginning of September 2023, I received a terrible diagnosis - bile duct cancer. Computed tomography showed that the cancerous lesion was infiltrating a part of the liver. Since then, I have undergone a number of oncology consultations. It turned out that in my case the cancer was inoperable. Another CT scan performed before chemotherapy showed progression of the disease. I am currently undergoing my first cycle of chemotherapy.

Molecular tests and new ways of treating cancer that are not available in our country are an opportunity for me. In addition to chemotherapy, the doctors offered me immunotherapy, which unfortunately is not reimbursed. In my case, it is also recommended to use drugs that are difficult to obtain and not reimbursed in Poland and are used in other countries to treat biliary tract cancer.

I believe that fighting such an aggressive disease should involve a holistic approach, which is why I want to use every available treatment option to increase my chances in fighting the disease. Innovative treatment is a challenge for me and my loved ones. I want to beat cancer, both for myself and for others. However, the costs of non-reimbursed therapies, diet, travel, private visits to specialists and supplements are very high

So far, we have managed on our own, but the moment has come when I have to ask for help from friends, acquaintances and strangers with big hearts. We cannot finance all the treatment that awaits me on our own.

My family is my greatest motivation in the fight against the disease. Telling my story was a very difficult decision for me. I was motivated by a great desire to continue living just for them. I have a wonderful and loving family and friends who believe in my recovery. I know that there are still many beautiful days waiting for me in my life. The road may be difficult, but with your support I will be able to make this dream come true.
