My history

Collection for:

Updates:

Updated on February 27, 2023

In April 2022, I underwent extensive surgery (left-sided internal hemipelvectomy).
I was taking post-operative chemotherapy until November.
After consultations, the doctors decided that due to the changes in my lungs I would take Nexavar. It is a non-reimbursable drug targeting cancer cells.
Just a few days after the surgery, I started intensive rehabilitation, which brings great results in improving my mobility. Currently, I am still systematically rehabilitating and dream of returning to normal everyday life and continuing my studies.
Thank you all for the support received.

Dream:

My name is Mateusz Sokołowski. Until 2021, my life continued at a normal pace. I was focused on learning and pursuing my dreams. I finished my studies at the 5th Secondary School in Wrocław - I also managed to pass the Matura exam. Graduating from high school and starting to study cybersecurity at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology was supposed to be a completely new stage in my life. I was in the place I always wanted to be, getting ready for the studies I had always dreamed of - life seemed to be favorable to my plans.

The holidays changed everything... The first symptoms seemed inconspicuous to me - I associated the pain in my left knee with an intense game of football. There are no words to describe how shocked I was by the diagnosis: osteosarcoma.

Currently, I am facing many months of treatment, rehabilitation and surgery at the IMiD in Warsaw. Now the biggest costs are commuting costs, but the really big costs will appear a few weeks after the first surgery. I am afraid that after adding up the costs of travel, long rehabilitation and other additional expenses, it will turn out that we do not have the financial space to effectively fight the disease.

The disease entered my life unexpectedly, changing my priorities. However, it did not manage to take away my dreams - I still want to educate myself, gain knowledge, meet new people. At this point, however, my greatest desire is a positive end to treatment and recovery. I hope you will help me achieve this goal.
