My name is Robert and I am fighting a difficult, tiring and unequal fight against cancer. It started with a malignant tumor of the palate - finding myself in this new situation was, to say the least, burdensome for me. The will to fight and strong motivation led me to a point where I achieved relative victory. However, my joy was short-lived. I quickly began to experience disturbing symptoms, which I instinctively associated with the recurrence of the disease. The initial examination did not confirm my fears, while my condition continued to deteriorate. I couldn't eat, swallowing food became a huge problem for me - I was afraid, especially since I had no idea what exactly was happening to my body.

I learned the shocking answer only in January this year - esophageal cancer. The disease would not go away, subsequent ailments were becoming more and more troublesome, and I did not have many treatment options. Treatment of the previous cancer with radiotherapy prevented me from using this option again. Meanwhile, the cancer became more and more aggressive, completely preventing me from eating - to survive I had to be fed with PEG. The situation was really dramatic, cancer was interfering with my basic life activities, and I did not want to give it such a significant advantage.

I decided to have a private consultation in Gliwice with a renowned doctor who has experience in such difficult cases. There I also learned that the first line of fight against the disease would be chemotherapy. In the best scenario, it will suppress the disease, otherwise surgery will be necessary. Regardless of the treatment path chosen, the costs will not change, as they are already much higher than our possibilities. We live on a modest pension, which does not allow us to fully cover the costs of commuting, private consultations and medicines, the monthly cost of which is as much as PLN 400.

After months of treatment, stress and pain, I know that I have to get rid of the parasite that does not allow me to look into the future with optimism. I have to fight because I am a father. I have the responsibility of raising a son with cerebral palsy. Due to significant mobility limitations, he requires constant care. My biggest dream is to provide him with maximum support. Rehabilitation and related stays bring results that amaze doctors. I see that our work is fruitful and it really fills me with faith that we are able to change our son's life in any way. That's why I want to get well as quickly as possible. Get well and focus all my energy on working with my son - I want to be a support for both him and my wife. Without your help, I won't make this dream come true.
