I am a retired geography teacher. For 26 years I taught this subject at the Primary School in Boguszewo near Grudziądz and at the Chemical and Electrical Technical Secondary School in Grudziądz. When I started working, I thought it would only be for a year, but I quickly realized that The teaching profession gives me a lot of satisfaction and is my calling. I enjoyed each new school year, each twinkle in my students' eyes and each of their successes.

I was happy with the new investments I made as the principal of "my" primary school.

I think I'm an idealist because I wasn't interested in the financial side of this profession. It seemed to me that the most important thing in life was passion and the joy that comes from a beloved activity. I still think that, but I also realized that without the appropriate amount, I will not save my life. Unfortunately, I am not a go-getter and I cannot effectively seek financial resources for further treatment. There is less and less hope in me, it is more and more difficult for me to endure subsequent chemotherapy treatments, and I believe less and less that I will overcome this terrible disease. Even though a small spark of faith in human goodness and solidarity still burns within me. I am timidly asking you for help.

In April 2016, tests revealed 17 tumors on my liver. Subsequent tests and consultations took me to the Oncology Center in Bydgoszcz, where the final diagnosis was made - Hodgkin's lymphoma. I started treatment, full of faith in the possibility of defeating the disease.

Shortly thereafter, a lump appeared on my right forearm. The doctor recommended its removal and histopathological tests. The result was clear – melanoma.

Since that time I am struggling with two malignant tumors. It's hard for me to maintain the optimism I had at the beginning. At the same time, lymphoma and melanoma are not only a heavy burden for the body, but also a very difficult treatment, requiring the administration of combined chemicals. Doctors gave me a good chance of recovery, despite the complicated diagnosis, the treatment boded well. Unfortunately, in early 2020, new melanoma tumors appeared. The disease became more severe again and since then my condition has been gradually deteriorating

In total, I have already undergone over 90 chemotherapy treatments. My spleen was removed to treat lymphoma. There were metastases to the spine and pelvis. At this point, palliative treatment is ongoing, but there is another drug that can stop the progression of the disease - Ipilimumab. Due to two malignant tumors, I do not meet the reimbursement conditions for this drug. One dose costs PLN 51,000, and I need four doses! That's a total of PLN 204,000.

My financial situation is very difficult. My wife is also a teacher, treatment costs are beyond our modest means. Just commuting to the hospital is a huge expense - PLN 400 both ways. I spend about PLN 800 on medicines a month. Collecting the amount needed to start non-reimbursed treatment - my only hope - is an impossible dream for us. However, I believe that with the help of good people we will be able to raise the necessary money.
