UPDATES:

Updated on February 6, 2023

The previous treatment in the form of 4 lines of chemotherapy did not bring positive results, which resulted in the progression of changes in the lungs and recurrence in the postoperative place.

I am currently waiting for surgery on a lesion in my pelvis. So far, I have not qualified for any treatment with new drugs under research programs.

Thanks to the study conducted by Professor Lubiński's team, which involved immunohistochemical assessment of protein expression, I found out that a certain part of cancer cells reacts with sensitivity to the drug Pembrolizumab. Unfortunately, due to other parameters shown in the same study, I do not meet the criteria that would allow me to apply for reimbursement of the drug in the RDTL mode (emergency access to drug technologies).

In the current situation, I can only apply to purchase the drug commercially. A single administration of Pembrolizumab costs approximately PLN 16,000.00. The number of administrations depends on the effectiveness of the therapy, which is confirmed by imaging tests.

Thanks to the payments made so far, which have provided me with access to psychological support, infusions supporting the body and supplementation, I have the strength and motivation to take action in this difficult life lesson.

Once again, I am asking you to support me with your 1.5% and another, even small, payment to the foundation's account.

With love and gratitude, Monika

Unfortunately, in December, a follow-up CT scan showed progression of lung lesions. The medical conference decided to administer another 6 cycles of chemotherapy, while changing cytostatics to stronger ones. This caused great weakness of the body, which resulted in the need for several days of hospitalization. Ultimately, it was decided that I would take only one of the cytostatics to limit the side effects.
In addition, I am waiting for the results of genetic tests conducted by the National Oncology Center, which will indicate whether I qualify to take part in phase II trials of immunological drugs.
My results, and thus my well-being, improved so much that on January 28 I was able to undergo another chemotherapy. Each dose is a burden on the body, but also another step on the road to health.

DREAM:

My name is Monika, I am 46 years old and I have a huge appetite for life.

I was afraid of cancer all my life, and it attacked me with double force, along with sarcoma.

In January 2021, I was diagnosed with advanced disease endometrial carcinosarcoma with numerous lung metastases. Immediately after the diagnosis, I underwent surgery (it was a life-saving operation) and since then I have been a "Mermaid", i.e. a woman whose reproductive organs were removed.

As soon as I regained strength after the surgery, treatment began with a series of six cycles of chemotherapy. And that's as much, or as much, as classical medicine and its treatment algorithms had to offer me. Carcinosarcoma is a poorly studied cancer. Due to the rarity of its occurrence, both in Poland and worldwide, no permanent therapeutic path has been implemented for this disease. When some doctors run out of options, others give hope by offering complementary treatment, which is not reimbursed in our country.

A big opportunity for me is to perform paid genetic tests that will indicate the sensitivity of cells from the removed tumor to the action of a specific immunotherapy. One such drug is Pembrolizumab, used to treat recurrences in carcinosarcoma patients in the United States. The price of 1 dose of the drug is PLN 16,900.

Due to the very aggressive behavior of the cancer, doctors were cautious about the prognosis from the very beginning and did not give me much hope for long-term survival, much less complete recovery.

They say faith works miracles, and I believe that I will live and celebrate my 50th birthday, just as I once dreamed of... in Barcelona :)

I also believe in a holistic approach to health and I believe that cancer treatment is not only a scalpel and chemotherapy, but many additional activities aimed at strengthening the physical condition, restoring the body's immunity and mental balance after a life-threatening shock. My path to health includes the costs of additional therapies in private clinics and the associated travel, supportive treatments, necessary and expensive supplementation, as well as consultations with a dietitian and psychological workshops.

Thanks to all these and many other actions, I am alive, there is no recurrence of the disease in the postoperative place, and the changes in the lungs are constantly decreasing.

Despite the great support of my family and loved ones, I am not able to finance the entire treatment yearly expense can exceed 300 000 PLN, that's why I'm turning to you, friends and strangers, please help me regain my health.

I am extremely grateful for every donation and I will do everything in my power to multiply the good that I receive from you.

With smile and love Monika.

***

My name is Monika, I am 46 years old and have a zest for life.

All my life I have been afraid of cancer, and when it struck, it was with double force, together with sarcoma.

In January 2021 I was diagnosed with advanced carcinosarcoma of the body of the uterus with metastases in the lungs. Soon after the diagnosis I had a life-saving operation, as a result of which I had my reproductive organs removed.

After the operation, as soon as I could, I began my treatment based on a series of six cycles of chemotherapy. That is everything that conventional medicine has to offer. Carcinosarcoma is unpopular and thus not thoroughly known and understood. As a result, there is no fixed procedure of treatment for this illness. While some doctors say that all hope is lost, others say that there is always another treatment related to CAM (complementary and alternative medicine), not refunded in Poland though.

A big chance for me is a genetic test, which will indicate the weaknesses of the cancer cells obtained from a removed tumor, and consequently, the selection of a preferred immunotherapy will be possible. Unfortunately, the test is not free of charge. Nor is the drug-of-choice (Pembrolizumab), which is used in the USA to treat patients suffering from Carcinosarcome. The cost of one dose of the drug is PLN 16,900.00 (approx, EUR 3,600.00).

Due to the fact that this cancer is very aggressive, doctors were very reserved about the chances of surviving, not to mention a full recovery.

It is said that fate works in wonders, and I believe that I will live to spend my 50th birthday the way I have always wanted – in Barcelona.

I also believe in a holistic approach to health and see cancer treatment not only through using a scalpel and chemotherapy, but also through a series of actions leading to full body recovery, restoring immunity and achieving mental balance and inner peace.

The fight for my health has cost me dearly, as it has involved costly therapies in private clinics, extensive commuting, supplementary treatments, as well as dietary consultations and psychological workshops.

These, among other activities, kept me alive. The surgical wound shows no signs of relapse and the lung lesions are deteriorating.

Regardless of the enormous support of my family and friends, I am not able to fully finance the therapy, the yearly cost of which may excess PLN 300,000.00 (approx. EUR 64,000.00). Therefore, as humble as I could be, I ask all of you, those who know me and those who do not – please help me recover.

I am greatly grateful for every donation and I will do everything in my power to repay the kindness.

Yours faithfully,

Monika.
