DREAM:

On the day of the funeral of my mother-in-law, January 23, 2024, whom we took care of as a family, the test results came back (they were performed because her health condition was deteriorating and a clear cause could not be determined). Since receiving information about an ongoing cancer process of unknown origin, we have performed another series of tests necessary to determine the type and location of the cancer (a set of gynecological examinations, liver ultrasound, abdominal ultrasound, tomography: chest and abdominal cavity, and blood tests). The last one was a liver biopsy, which indicated bile duct cancer. It turned out that there were also metastases to the lungs, lymph nodes and intestines. We have undertaken immunological treatment aimed at preparing the body (strengthening) it to start treatment - in my wife's case it will be chemotherapy (surgery or radiotherapy are not an option for now because there are too many cancer cells). My wife also went on an oncology diet.

Treatment begins with chemotherapy, and an intravenous port will be implanted to administer drugs. Further decisions regarding possible surgery will depend on the effects of treatment with this method. As a supportive measure, we will continue immunotherapy along with the diet. We do not rule out anything - if there is an opportunity to undertake effective treatment abroad, we will try everywhere.

Treatment costs so far amount to approximately PLN 10,000 per month (preparations, travel, private medical visits - oncologist, psychiatrist). At this moment, it is difficult to determine what the future months of treatment will look like - it all depends on the body's reaction to the chemotherapy treatment, which starts on March 1, 2024.

My wife dreams of raising a Rottweiler puppy from a small age and would also like to be able to see the sea every day - she loves walks along its shore. She says that she is also motivated by how I fight and support her. So I try my best. We've known each other since we were 17, and January marked our 30th wedding anniversary.

We are like two halves of an orange. I won't give up. I'm not going.
