My husband Mariusz is 45 years old. Until May this year, we lived a normal, peaceful life. Nothing foretold that our lives would fall apart in a moment into a million pieces and we would have to fight for something most important and valuable - Mariusz's life.

We will never forget the day we learned the diagnosis- inoperable grade 4 glioblastoma multiforme. It's hard for me to describe this moment in words. The world has slipped away from under our feet. After the first shock, anger and breakdown, it was time to think about what to do next.

Poland does not offer many methods of treating this form of glioma. Fortunately, it was a miracle that Mariusz was qualified for immunotherapy treatment at a clinic in Cologne, Germany. This is his chance at life. The matter is complicated by the fact that it is not reimbursed in any way.

The aim of immune therapy is to detect cancer cells and "unblock" the immune system in order to activate and multiply defense cells, and then eliminate the tumor and administer an anti-cancer vaccine. The vaccine is prepared especially for my husband and is intended to trigger an immune reaction to a cancer antigen. Currently, Mariusz has undergone radiotherapy, chemotherapy and two cycles of immunotherapy.

Unfortunately, our budget is under enormous pressure due to the additional costs of tests, medicines and consultations. We have no choice but to ask, or even beg, people of good heart for help.

The enemy is strong, but we cannot give up. Mariusz has someone to live for. We have a wonderful 10-year-old son who needs a father. I am begging you to help and support my husband in his fight for the greatest stake: life. The total amount of treatment amounts to approximately PLN 400,000. This is an unattainable sum for us. So far, we have paid for 2 cycles that cost approximately PLN 90,000. There are more trips ahead of us that we simply cannot afford.

I would like to ask everyone to help me in supporting the collection for my husband Mariusz. No amount is too small, every share of the collection is very important and gives us hope that Mariusz will get through this.
