Update of 19/11/2020

Mrs. Ewa is currently being prepared for surgery to remove a salivary gland tumor. Then you will probably need another surgery. The tumors are being diagnosed, histopathological examination of the samples will determine their nature.

Update from March 4, 2020

Recent tests revealed a pituitary tumor. Further tests in Katowice will allow for accurate diagnosis.

Updated on 22/07/2021

Mrs. Ewa is currently going through very difficult times. The tumor persists and metastasizes to the pituitary gland, cerebellum, salivary gland and para-aortic node. Therefore, it was decided to take the thirteenth chemistry course, which turned out to be the most exhausting for her body. Chemotherapy weakened Mrs. Ewa both physically and mentally, so now, more than ever before, she needs our support.

DREAM:

Mrs. Ewa has it malignant ovarian tumor. He has undergone surgery and is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

He is in a difficult financial situation, he only survives on a pension of PLN 1,400. Her husband died a few years ago and she is alone. The apartment needs renovation, and she barely has enough to live on and buy medicines.

Mrs. Ewa's story:

Ladies and gentlemen,

My name is Ewa, I was born and have lived in Legnica all my life.

Profession I am a primary school teacher, for many years my job was one of the most rewarding and satisfying - working with children. I have always liked helping and caring, I was the one who helped. Today I have to ask for this help myself.

My professional path was interrupted by thyroid disease - during surgery I had a nerve cut near my vocal cord and for a long time it prevented me from communicating at all. Long and arduous rehabilitation has allowed me to communicate in an understandable way, but too long a conversation is difficult for me and requires a lot of effort, which makes returning to my profession impossible. I started helping my husband with his work - we ran a recreation center together for a long time. We lived peacefully as a happy family, unfortunately at some point my mother passed away, a year and a half later my husband passed away. I was left alone with my son. We began a very difficult period of paying off the debts after my husband's death - they did not result from any addictions, but only from the type of business I ran, which I could no longer do on my own. I didn't give up. After her husband's death I worked wherever I could – in a pie shop, in a second-hand clothing store, even at the cemetery selling candles! I knew I had to fight for myself. When things started to get better for me and I saw the light at the end of the tunnel... in 2018 it came diagnosis: ovarian cancer. I had to stop working and undergo treatment. 6 cycles of chemotherapy, surgery, another 6 cycles of chemotherapy, Avastin infusions. Why this disease, why me? I asked myself and the doctors. Genetic tests ruled out genetic predispositions, I led a quiet lifestyle... the doctor's conclusion: stress. After the death of my mother and husband, I despaired, it was a very, very hard time for me... In addition, there were financial problems that I had to cope with on my own...

Today I feel good for stage 3 cancer. My results are good, CT results will be available at the end of February, but the prognosis is good. I could slowly recover if it weren't for a mundane problem... money.

I have PLN 1,400 in pension married. I was advised to choose this pension because my teacher's pension would be even lower. After paying basic bills and fees, I have nothing left to live on. After chemotherapy, I have peripheral nerve damage, cold and numb feet and hands – I need to take medicines for their regeneration three times a day, I use three packages of medicines a month. Plus the necessary supplements... and I just need it for bread. I even try to knit so that I can sell what I make, but my hands still refuse to obey.

I live in very difficult conditions – the apartment needs renovation, equipment that has been used for years is slowly breaking down: the stove, the sofa. I don't have money to replace them.

Despite this difficult situation, I believe that fate has been kind to me. I don't suffer, I have the prospect of health, a chance. I can also count on my son's help. I just have to survive this difficult moment, recover, finally maybe there's a second life ahead of me! I am an active person, I would definitely like to work again as soon as I have the opportunity. I still want to take life by the horns and fight!

Asking for help is very difficult for me, after all, we know - when other people are fighting for their lives, suffering, little children are sick, it touches our hearts. Few people care about older people... but when we don't have enough money, what choice do we have?

Thank you all very much for your support!
