We fight with breast cancer. Since February last year, the disease has progressed to such an extent that metastases have appeared in the cervical spine, lumbar spine, chest and lungs. At the moment, my best "typer" drives on four wheels and unfortunately it is not an S-class Mercedes. My mother suffered a pathological fracture of the femur and we are trying to get rid of the tumor from the bone - such a procedure is possible in Miejskie Hospital in Gliwice. There is a team of orthopedic oncologists who want to take up the issue and implant a personalized 3D prosthesis into my mother! It all depends on the results of current research. Currently, the procedure is largely dependent on the strength of the heart - due to the cancer, fluid has appeared in the pericardial sac, posing a real risk of tamponade.

The tumor infiltration in the neck is so large that surgery may cause quadriplegia. Due to the risk being too high, the surgery was postponed. Currently, we can only rely on radiological irradiation - we have focused on oncological treatment, but the neurosurgical treatment must come at the right time. The progressive disease forced us to change the treatment from hormone therapy to chemotherapy. This gives a chance to stabilize the spread and the possibility of undergoing orthopedic surgery. The mother is still in pharmacological menopause, which stabilizes the division of cancer cells.

We still use unconventional goods. We treat ourselves with tuning forks - sound treatment. For this, we use a lot of drugs (including antihormonal and psychotropic drugs), for which we have to pay for them ourselves and equip ourselves with equipment that allows us to effectively fight the disease, also from home. All consultation and diagnostic visits take place in Gliwice or Wrocław. Traveling is time-consuming and requires large amounts of money. Sometimes we have to be in Gliwice two days in a row - so high fuel bills are a daily occurrence for us. After the orthopedic surgery, we face a long rehabilitation period, which is aimed at helping the mother move independently. Deadlines are very unfavorable for us, we want to act quickly and precisely, and only private consultations give us this option. The situation is the same in the case of a cardiologist. It seems that the price of recovery does not fall within any acceptable range...

Especially now that we have the opportunity to use oncological hyperthermia. Given the spread of the cancer that my mother is struggling with, we must aim for whole-body hyperthermia, which costs as much as PLN 1,400. Most often, 7-10 treatments are recommended in parallel with radiotherapy or chemotherapy. So we will have to spend a lot of money to try to stop the progress of this parasite.

Then we can only count on a pension, which, as we know, is not adequate security for the treatment process.
