Zuzia Krawczyk – 15 years old, joyful, always smiling, kind, full of energy, helpful.
In July 2022, Zuzia's leg started hurting. We went to the doctor who said it was a torn biceps muscle. He recommended painkillers and we started rehabilitation. In October 2022, he developed rib pain and difficulty breathing. Another visit to the doctor and the diagnosis - neuralgia. Pain medications were prescribed. In December 2022, the pain in my leg and ribs was joined by back pain, and part of my leg became swollen and numb. We went to hospital. We were referred to the neurology department.

On January 8, 2023, we took our daughter to the hospital again with chest pain and breathing difficulties. Examinations, ultrasound, tomography and initial diagnosis that changed our whole lives in an instant... Spinal tumor, thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Imaging revealed a massive tumor extending from the L4-L5 lumbar vertebrae to the pelvic floor. Immediate treatment for thrombosis was implemented. On January 12, 2023, a biopsy was performed. 20/01/2023 biopsy result – Central chondrosarcoma – G1. Based on the histopathological examination results, the tumor is expected to be chemo- and radio-resistant.

At the current stage of advancement, radical surgical treatment is not possible. Due to pain and increasing deficits, Zuzia received a neurological examination
first cycle of chemotherapy for chondrosarcoma. Zuzia's initiation of the targeted drug "Pazopanib" may enable her to achieve remission of her cancer disease.

Unfortunately, the drug is not reimbursed by the National Health Fund in the diagnosis of chondrosarcoma. The estimated cost of treatment may be approximately PLN 8,000.00 per month. The duration of treatment with this medicine may last up to 24 months.
