non-reimbursed treatment - OPTUNE NOVOCURE, travel, medications, rehabilitation

My name is Tomasz - I am a husband and father of two daughters: Katarzyna and Helena. I am a 34-year-old dentist and today I find myself in a situation where I need help! I'm fighting for my life! On July 13, I heard the worst news of my life: a brain stem tumor. Suddenly my whole world fell apart. There was despair and fear because the tumor turned out to be the same grade IV glioma, one of the most aggressive and malignant tumors! 

My family and I had our own plans for the future. Unfortunately, we have to postpone it for now. I have to fight for my life and win against a deadly opponent.

I don't give up, I fight, I believe that everything will be fine. However, I need funds for new therapies, which unfortunately are not reimbursed. I want to take advantage of every possible chance, because glioma is truly one of the most deadly brain tumors that comes back very often.

I am currently undergoing 6 weeks of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, as well as maintenance chemotherapy once a month. I also started therapy with an additional drug from Germany that inhibits the development of the cancer. However, its price is very high. I was qualified for Immunotherapy treatment in Germany. I go on 5-day trips for drug infusions that inhibit tumor development and hyperthermia. 

Recently, I received a referral for TTFields therapy (Optune) on my own - unfortunately there is no reimbursement in Poland. And this is where the problems begin. The monthly cost of therapy is PLN 120,000. It is important that using the device min. 18 hours a day has a good prognosis combined with the complementary chemotherapy I am receiving. It is my dream to start therapy and hit the tumor from every possible angle. I am determined to fight and I sincerely believe that this device will help me regain my health!

That's why I'm asking everyone for help so that I can have maximum support, treatment and help from physiotherapists in getting back to fitness for as long as possible.

I know that I have many friends and good people around me, but what has happened at the turn of the last few months has exceeded my expectations and has given me, my wife and our children a lot of strength in this difficult situation.
