DREAM:
Robert – partner, brother, son, uncle, brother-in-law. Anyone who knows him knows that he is helpful, kind and honest. He is a person with many passions and talents, enjoying life to the fullest. Until recently, he was professionally active. He worked as a professional driver for about 30 years, because driving is his passion, and I feel best behind four wheels.
However, in April last year we heard a diagnosis that turned our lives upside down - advanced stage rectal cancer. It is a highly malignant tumor that attacks and destroys our Robert's body.
Despite the surgery and chemotherapy cycles, the prognosis is not good. Unfortunately, the last chemotherapy turned out to be ineffective, and the cancer had already metastasized to the liver. Given the advancement of the disease and the lack of effectiveness of the last chemotherapy, we are forced to use further specialized tests that are not reimbursed by the National Health Fund. Unfortunately, the cost of this test (Exacta profiling) is PLN 24,000, but it is the most comprehensive cancer analysis in the world.
Additionally, there are treatment costs. In addition to the treatment resulting from the Exacta analysis, we also place great hopes in other innovative and unconventional methods, such as ozone therapy, oncothermia and other non-reimbursable treatments. The cost of this type of solutions is quite a challenge, and Robert has been on a pension since October 2022 due to his health. The therapies described above are long-term solutions and it is difficult to estimate their total cost, but we already see that we cannot cope on our own and we are forced to ask for outside help.
