Hi! My name is Julka and I am 18 years old.

It all started in February 2020, when I had my first epilepsy attack. It was a big shock because I had never had any serious health problems before. The MRI showed a lesion in the brain. I was taken to a hospital in Lublin where a biopsy was performed. In April we received the diagnosis - brain tumor, diffuse astrocytoma of the parietal area on the right side with grade II malignancy. After the diagnosis, we started looking for a hospital, which was made even more difficult by the pandemic.

In June 2020, I started chemotherapy at IPCZD in Warsaw. I took the 14th treatment - the last dose in October 2021. Throughout the entire chemotherapy period, I supported myself with supplements and medicinal marijuana, thanks to which I passed the period gently. I could continue studying, meet friends and simply enjoy life as much as I could. Unfortunately, during the last follow-up MRI performed in January 2023, it turned out that the tumor had enlarged. The attending physician qualified me for repeated oncological treatment.

So far, we have managed financially, but now I have to ask for help. I want to finish high school and go to my dream college. To fight the disease, he needs supportive treatment, which unfortunately is very expensive and not reimbursed. I know that it will make my chemotherapy more effective and I will be able to recover faster. The monthly cost of my treatment (travel to the hospital, consultations with specialists and non-reimbursed supportive treatment) is approximately PLN 25,000. Over the last few years, we have been trying to cover the costs of treatment from our own funds, but this is slowly starting to exceed my family's financial capabilities. Therefore, I hope that this fundraiser will help me continue my path to recovery.
