In March, Małgosia finally had a transplant. There were some nerves, but in the end the transplant took place. The coming months are important to avoid rejection during this period. Małgosia is under constant medical care and takes immunosuppressive drugs and infusions.

Update of 8/09/2020

During the pandemic, all research was suspended and previous results became outdated. Therefore, Małgosia is currently undergoing all tests again. Their results will allow doctors to decide on a transplant. The good news is that Radek's CT scan results were successful - he can still be a donor. Małgosia is very weak from constant dialysis, doctors say that she will be able to continue it for a year at most, so a transplant is necessary. The family is raising funds for the surgery itself, but subsequent consultations and further treatment involve high costs.

Update from March 26, 2020

Unfortunately, due to poor results, the operation could not be performed. Currently, the antibodies have improved, but the date of the surgery has been postponed due to the coronavirus. According to doctors, it will definitely not be possible to carry out it earlier than May. Małgosia goes to the hospital for dialysis; she and her husband are very afraid of getting infected, which could be a death sentence for her.

Update from October 25, 2019

Subsequent tests continue to confirm that Radek may be a donor. Małgosia needs a transplant as soon as possible, her condition is gradually deteriorating. At the moment we need PLN 50,000 to pay for the operation. We hope that it will be completed by December 15.

Update of 27/08/2019

Unfortunately, it was not possible to collect enough money to carry out the transplant in England. Fortunately, a new opportunity has appeared - Małgosia will probably have it operation in the Czech Republic. Currently, he is under the best care and undergoing all necessary tests. Her husband – Radek – successfully passed check-ups, so he can still be a donor.

At this moment, the expected total cost of Małgosia's treatment is: PLN 170,000.

Until 2016, my husband Radek and I lived happily and peacefully - like in a fairy tale.

We were suddenly awoken from our sleep by my diagnosis – antiphospholipid syndrome and kidney failure.It turned out that a transplant was necessary. My husband volunteered to be a donor and preliminary tests showed histocompatibility. Unfortunately, after a computed tomography scan, it turned out that Radek had a malignant adrenal tumor.

Fortunately, my husband was diagnosed quickly and his surgery was a success. One obstacle has been overcome, there is still another - my illness.

Transplantation of an organ from a person suffering from cancer is possible 2 years after the end of treatment. We waited this period and returned to the topic of transplant. Unfortunately, it turned out that the Polish medical care system did not allow us to perform this operation. So far, such transplants have not been performed in Poland.

I am still on dialysis, but the results are getting worse. If we don't do the transplant by August, my chances of survival will be slim.

My husband has regular check-ups and the results are very good. For now the only hope for me is a clinic in London, which specializes in antiphospholipid syndrome. The cost of the operation is approximately PLN 300,000. zloty.

I believe we will be able to raise money for the operation.

Before 2016, my husband Radek and I had lived in our own little fairy tale.

Our world crumbled with my diagnosis – antiphospholipid syndrome and renal failure. It turned out that I need a kidney transplant. My husband signed up as a donor and the preliminary examination showed tissue compatibility. Unfortunately, after his tomography, we found out that Radek had a malignant adrenal tumor.

Luckily my husband was quickly diagnosed and his treatment was successful. We overcame one of the obstacles, but the second one remained – my illness.

Transplantation of an organ from a former oncological patient is possible after 2 years since their treatment. Unfortunately, it turned out that the Polish medical care system wouldn't let us have this operation. As of now, such transplants in Poland are not possible.

I am being dialyzed regularly, but the results are getting worse. If we do not transplant until August, my chances of survival will be very low. My husband is getting regular check-ups and his results are very good. At the moment there is hope for me – we might have a shot at a clinic in London , which specializes in the antiphospholipid syndrome. The cost of the operation is about EUR 60,000.

I believe we'll be able to raise money for the operation. It's the only hope for me.
