My disease began at the beginning of 2020 with a devastating diagnosis - stage IV ovarian cancer.

It was a very difficult year for me, but after 2 surgeries and 10 chemotherapy treatments, the disease went into remission. In March 2021, I was treated with Olaparib because I was diagnosed with a BRCA1/BRCA2 mutation. Unfortunately, at the end of 2022, there was a recurrence and chemotherapy treatment was implemented, which continues to this day.

The current treatment does not bring the expected results, so I decided to undergo additional treatment that strengthens the body, which is not reimbursed. This is a monthly cost of PLN 3,200 plus travel costs. To reduce the side effects of chemotherapy, I take supplements worth about PLN 1,000 a month. These costs are significantly beyond my means, because I have a pension of PLN 2,200, so I rely on the help of my closest family.

I never thought I would find myself in a situation where I would ask others for support. However, the disease teaches humility and a different perspective on life.

I have wonderful grandchildren that I want to enjoy as long as possible.
