Researchers from Harvard University and Tehran University of Medical Sciences compared animal and plant protein intake and mortality from cancer, cardiovascular disease and other causes among 32 studies and a total of 715,128 participants. Each additional 3% of calories from plant protein, from legumes, grains and soy products, reduces the risk of death by approximately 5%. Consuming animal protein does not have similar properties.
