Monika, my beloved wife, has been bravely fighting for two and a half years\u00a0malignant brain tumor<\/strong>.Her first symptoms appeared shortly after the birth of our second son in 2023. Monika was urgently admitted to the hospital in Cz\u0119stochowa. An MRI confirmed the initial diagnosis: a brain tumor measuring 5 x 5 x 4 cm in the area of the lateral ventricles and frontal lobe. Our entire family endured the longest and most stressful month waiting for the surgery, which took place at the hospital in Sosnowiec. The operation lasted 16 hours<\/strong>. Nothing can express our gratitude to the doctors who undertook such a difficult task. Thanks to them, Monika left the hospital fully recovered. The initial histopathology results gave us some hope, but just five months later, it turned out that Monika urgently needed a second surgery due to a recurrence of the tumor.<\/p>\n Being separated from her children again \u2013 then 6-year-old Maciek and 1-year-old Maks \u2013 was a huge blow to Monika. Despite complications with cerebrospinal fluid flow disruptions, the 9-hour surgery ended well, and Monika was able to return home. Meanwhile, we received the histopathology results \u2013 Glioblastoma multiforme grade IV<\/strong>. This news shocked our entire family, but we did not stop praying and trusting in God.<\/p>\n Monika underwent six weeks of radiotherapy and chemotherapy using Temodal. This treatment was insufficient. After further results, the decision was made to administer another course of chemotherapy with Lomustine and repeat radiotherapy. Unfortunately, a recent follow-up MRI revealed a slowly developing recurrence. Monika received additional doses of radiation this year.<\/p>\n Currently, Monika wants to continue fighting for her health so she can be with us as long as possible, especially for our wonderful sons. Therapy is a chance for greater success in this fight. tumor treating fields (TTFields) using the Optune device<\/strong>. This treatment has been approved by the US FDA for use in patients with recurrent glioblastoma multiforme, as it has been proven effective in significantly extending progression-free survival. Unfortunately, we were not eligible for clinical trials. Recently, this therapy has also become available for a fee in Poland, but the costs are enormous. about 120 thousand zlotys per month<\/strong> (Treatment typically requires 4 to 18 months).
