In 2019, at the age of 33, I felt a change in my breast. At that time, I had two little daughters \u2013 Kornelia was 5 and Marysia was only 2. I heard the diagnosis \u2013\u00a0 malignant breast cancer<\/strong>. The world stopped. I started treatment \u2013 chemotherapy, mastectomy with reconstruction. In 2021, I returned to work and life. I thought the disease was behind me.<\/p>\n But in 2023 everything changed. New liver lesions, life-threatening pericardial effusion<\/strong>. From that moment on, I no longer live "after cancer". I am a palliative patient - treated to prolong life and maintain its quality for as long as possible. The time since that diagnosis has been one of constant vigilance, tests, changing therapies, side effects and racing against time.<\/p>\n I decided to have my ovaries removed as a preventive measure. The treatment stopped the progression of the disease, but it put a huge strain on my body \u2013 half of my liver is affected by cirrhosis.<\/strong>. I need care from many specialists: a hepatologist, neurologist, dietician, psychologist. I need rehabilitation, medications and supplements, which are often not reimbursed. Every 3 weeks I receive an infusion of a drug that is supposed to stop the disease. The last CT scan showed that the lesions on the liver began to grow again. The oncologist immediately changed the treatment - we are waiting to see if the new drug will work.<\/p>\n I haven't been able to return to work for a year and a half. Treatment is not only a huge physical and mental effort, but also a cost that is becoming increasingly difficult for me to cope with. That's why I'm asking you for help<\/strong>.<\/p>\n I just want to live. For myself. For my daughters. Be there for them as they grow up. Enjoy ordinary days.
