In November 2023, my left shoulder started to hurt, which I thought was a gym injury. At first, the pain came and went, but the range of motion gradually decreased. In May 2024, I went to see my family doctor, who referred me to an orthopedist. I waited until September to see an orthopedist - he referred me for an MRI.<\/p>\n
I received the results on Teachers' Day, October 14, 2024. There I read that there were "lumpy" changes in my arm and I was referred for further oncological consultations. The next day (October 15) in the morning I went to the orthopedist with the results and there I learned that the changes were serious. On October 16, I received a full description of the tests\u2026 left kidney, adrenal gland, minor changes on the right kidney, femur, ischium, pelvis and that painful arm\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n The world collapsed for a few days, but I made an agreement with God and started fighting\u2026<\/p>\n On November 14, my left kidney and adrenal gland were removed. I have been on chemotherapy (immunotherapy) since December. From December 2024 to February 2025, I underwent four cycles of radiotherapy to individual bones. I tolerate the treatment very well, and I remain professionally active. Additionally, I supplement the therapy at the Immunoclinic in Warsaw, take natural medicines to support immunity, and use the help of a dietician.<\/p>\n I am waiting for the CT scan results, but for now the immunotherapy will continue. I am also planning further complementary treatment.<\/p>\n We spend about PLN 2,500\u20133,000 per month on treatment and trips to the Immunoclinic in Warsaw, and an additional PLN 500 on medications. <\/strong>These costs are more or less constant (for two months), but additional expenses keep popping up. I am still a "newbie" in this situation and I don't know what else awaits me. It's hard for me to estimate the costs of the diet precisely.<\/p>\n My greatest motivation is my family.<\/strong> My children are entering adulthood \u2013 my son is in his fifth year of college, my daughter in her fourth year of high school. I would like to be a healthy, fit grandfather. I would like to continue to pursue my passions: teaching physics, which I love, exploring astronomy, writing poetry, singing.
