In 2022, I started to feel discomfort in the perineal area. I went to my family doctor, who ordered a urine test. The results showed an infection, so I was given antibiotics. Unfortunately, after completing the treatment, I did not feel any improvement, so I was referred to a urologist. Due to doctors' strikes, my appointments were canceled many times, so I was only able to get a consultation in May 2023. The MRI showed some anomalies, but the doctors were unable to interpret them clearly.<\/p>\n
I decided to go to a private urologist because I felt a lump the size of a fingernail and I still felt discomfort. The doctor performed an ultrasound and diagnosed prostatitis, which he described as an occupational disease of drivers (I work as a driver). When I asked if it could be cancer, he assured me that there was no reason to worry and prescribed another antibiotic. Unfortunately, despite a month of treatment, the symptoms did not subside.<\/p>\n
I consulted with other doctors who ordered a biopsy. The results confirmed my worst fears \u2013 I was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma of the lower pelvis.<\/strong> In September 2023, I started chemotherapy and finished in April 2024. From June to August 2024, I took Votrient and in July I had radiotherapy. On September 23-24, I received my first dose of Gemcitabine and Docetaxel.<\/p>\n Currently, the monthly costs of treatment amount to about 3 thousand zlotys, including medicines and travel to chemotherapy. My hope for further life is connected with treatment in Israel, but the cost of such therapy is about 500 thousand zlotys.
