Piotrek is a curious thirteen-year-old. He dreams of traveling around the world. He would especially like to see New York. He loves playing basketball and assembling all kinds of models. He's great at math and science.<\/p>\n
The history of Piotrek's illness is relatively short, but quite drastic. In the fall of 2022, Piotrek started complaining about knee pain, but tests did not show anything alarming. During the winter break, Piotrek and his dad went hiking and skiing. He complained a little about knee pain, which is natural at this age due to rapid growth - that's what we were suggested in the fall - but it didn't stop him from skiing. After returning home, because the pain did not stop and the leg began to swell, the parents started looking for the cause of the pain again. In mid-March 2023, Piotrek had another ultrasound. During the examination, the doctor diagnosed a large tumor in the distal metaphysis of the left femur. Piotrek was immediately sent for further tests to the Institute of Mother and Child, to the oncology ward. Over the next two weeks, each new test and diagnosis was shocking - malignant tumor of the femur (osteosarcoma)<\/strong> with metastases to both lungs, tumor size 11 cm.<\/p>\n Three weeks after the first examination, Piotrek's fight against this nasty disease began. At the moment, Piotru\u015b is after the first very strong and intense series of chemotherapy.
