Hello, my name is Karolina Urbanowicz and for 17 years I have been trying to do my best to recover from cancer.<\/p>\n
In 2007, on a beautiful April day, I received the diagnosis: Hodgkin's disease<\/strong> (Hodgkin's lymphoma<\/strong>) \u2013 it was like a bolt from the blue. Then a long, hard fight for life began. Within a short period of time, I was subjected to chemotherapy \u2013 8 cycles. Then more chemicals that destroyed not only the cancer cells, but also the entire immune system.<\/p>\n It is not easy to live with the knowledge that the disease is a part of life and you have to come to terms with it, and at the same time look for a lot of strength in yourself to fight it. Side effects leave a mark forever, not only physically but also mentally.<\/p>\n In 2011, I underwent a transplant from a donor because the disease was progressing and the treatment was yielding poor results. It was a great opportunity to improve health, but unfortunately, healthy life was short-lived. In 2016, a PET scan revealed tumors in the lungs and liver - the disease returned with double strength and required further chemotherapy and supportive treatment.<\/p>\n Unfortunately, the disease still requires specialized care and treatment. Three years ago, kidney problems also appeared (nephrotic syndrome). Currently, I am undergoing immunotherapy treatment, which takes place every 3 weeks, unfortunately abroad. The highest treatment costs are related to trips to France, where I am currently undergoing treatment, which includes flights and local transport to the hospital. I regularly take medications and supplements that strengthen the immune system after chemotherapy and immunotherapy, but unfortunately they are also very expensive.<\/p>\n It is not known when the treatment will end. I still believe that this end will come and I will be completely healthy. This will be one of the most beautiful days of my life. My biggest dream is to be a healthy person and regain my full strength.
