It's been a year since I received the news about the diagnosis. August 18, 2022 I had a regular check-up with the gynecologist, which I went to every six months. During the ultrasound examination, the doctor noticed changes in the ovary. After this information, I quickly started looking for a private visit to an oncologist. My suspicions were confirmed and I was sent for detailed tests. The result indicated: malignant ovarian cancer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In a short time, the decision was made to undergo surgery. It turned out that metastases had already appeared in the intestines and uterus, as well as in the lymph nodes.<\/p>\n

All this happened in one month. I was shocked because I had not experienced any disturbing symptoms before. Before the memorable visit to the gynecologist, I lived a very active and sporty lifestyle. That's why it was even more shocking news for me.<\/p>\n

After the surgery, I started a course of chemotherapy. The first dose was the most difficult, after just 3 minutes I went into shock and the full dose was not completed. It took me a few days to recover. During the first months of treatment, I really wanted to be professionally active, so I also worked then, which was exhausting for my body. I had poor blood results, so most of the doses were postponed, hence the whole process ended in the second half of March.<\/p>\n

In parallel with the first dose of chemotherapy, I am taking Avastin - a total of 18 doses, which are administered systematically every 3 weeks. I have also been taking Olaparib since May. These drugs are intended to prevent recurrence of the disease.<\/p>\n

I have been on leave for two months because taking oral chemotherapy (Olaparib) knocked me off my feet - severe weakness, vomiting, dizziness - all this did not allow me to function normally on a daily basis. Only now I am slowly returning to balance in my body and the mentioned ailments do not appear so often.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, due to my health condition, I will not be able to return to work. I'm worried about finances because while I was fit, I also took care of my father, who requires 24\/7 support. The treatment process forced me to decide to transfer my father to a specialist center. His monthly stay in such a place costs PLN 5,000. In addition, I incur costs related to treatment - visits to specialists, supplements, medicines, appropriate diet, travel.<\/p>\n

I have always been financially independent and never thought I would be in a situation where I would have to ask for help. Every day I want to believe that the disease will not come back. The last year has caused me to reevaluate my life priorities and I don't really dream about anything else but my old everyday life, when I didn't have to worry about tomorrow and whether I would be able to take care of my father.<\/p>\n
